Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Congratulations to all staff and students for their hard work and achievements throughout Term 3.
Term 3 has been a successful and rewarding term for the entire Rissalah community. This term we celebrated NAIDOC week, Science Week, Literacy Week, Numeracy Week, Harmony Cup and numerous Gala Days. Events such as this are vital in fostering the holistic development of our children, so that they learn to appreciate the added lessons and values, such as collaboration, decision making, fair play, sportsmanship, respect, critical and creative thinking. Thank you to all of our parents and caregivers who have assisted today and throughout the term to make our school events so successful.
It is important to remember that with our words, we convey our assumptions and expectations about our children, which, in turn, influence our children’s assumptions and expectations about themselves. It is crucial that we always communicate our very highest expectations so that students can strive for excellence.
It is now time to reflect on our achievements and work towards an even brighter future ahead.
I would like to leave you with a quote on the right.
JazakaAllah Khairan, Mrs. Yeliz Fattouh Principal
Principal’s Message
A parent information session for our kindergarten students in 2020 was held on Saturday, 21st
September. Parents were informed about the importance of attendance, synopsis of the curriculum,
activities you can do at home to prepare your child for Kindergarten, as well as parent tips in helping
your child be successful throughout the Kindergarten year.
All 2020 Kindergarten students will participate in a Pre-Kindy program during Term 4. Classes will be
conducted on Saturdays from 9:30am – 12:30pm. Students will be involved in a 3-hour program,
involving four separate sessions; Literacy, Numeracy, Arabic and Sport. The aim of the program is to
allow our students to familiarise themselves with the school environment, routines and procedures.
The Principal urges all families to make holiday plans during school holiday periods ONLY. No long leave of absence for holidays will be approved throughout school time. The College remains committed to your children’s learning and it is for this reason that we have adopted stringent guidelines, in accordance with new government policy.
Please be reminded school starts at 8:20am and students are dismissed at 3:20pm. For the safety of your child, please do not drop your child at school before 8am and to pick up your children at 3:30pm as no teacher is on duty before 8am and after 3:45pm. We ask parents and caregivers to fully assist us in this matter.
We would like to say thank you to all parents and carers for your patience and assistance with Google Classroom. We have received positive feedback from our community regarding how successful it has been in developing our student’s IT skills and the level of engagement has also increased.

Thank you to all parents who have helped our students participate in the Crunch&Sip program by ensuring they have a piece of fruit and/or vegetable to eat during the school day. It is an easy way to help kids stay healthy and happy! Giving students the chance to re-fuel with fruit or vegetables helps to improve physical and mental performance and concentration in the classroom, as well as promoting long term health. Don’t hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any further questions.
As we welcome the warmer weather our students must arrive at school in full summer uniform in Term 4. We ask that parents please ensure that students are dressed appropriately every day. The uniform must be clean and ironed.

Traffic and road safety is of major concern to the College. Parents and caregivers are continuing to park illegally and disregard traffic and road regulations. All parents must pick up their child/children in the kiss and drop zone. Parents are to ensure that their pick up numbers are displayed on their front windscreens. No staff members will approach vehicles to request student names. No parents are permitted to park or double park in the kiss and drop zone, failure to do so will result in your registration details being forwarded to RMS where infringement notices will be issued to those who do not abide with regulations. Please always consider the safety of our children and ensure that you allow yourself adequate time to locate suitable parking if you wish to leave your vehicle.

Administration Hours
There are a large number of items most of which are not labelled (uniform items, clothing, lunch boxes and drink bottles) in our Lost Property. The school office will be open between the hours of 8:00am-8:30am and 3:00pm-3:45pm if you would like to come in to collect your child/ren’s items. At the beginning of Week 2 all unclaimed items will be disposed of. Please ensure that all items are clearly labeled with your child’s name and class. Remind them to be responsible for all items they bring to school to avoid items being misplaced. Masha’Allah, we are very proud of all our Year 3 and Year 5 students this year. They have achieved very good results in the annual NAPLAN (National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy). The five areas tested were Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation and Numeracy. Below are the students who achieved exceptional results.
