Subjunctive Tenses
The past subjunctive is used in the same contexts and situations as the present subjunctive, exceptthat it generally describes actions, events, or conditionsthat have already happened.
Me sorprendió que Uds. no vinieran.It surprised me that you didn’t come.
Mi padre dudaba que nosotros comiéramos toda la pizza. My father doubted that we ate the whole pizza.

-ieron) and then drop the (-on): (FOR ALL THE FORMS)

Past Subjunctive EndingsOnce you have dropped the “ON” form the ellos preterit tense, then you can add the following endings:

Tú -as -as
Él/Ella/Ud. -a -a
Nosotros -amos -amos * accent mark is added to the last
vowel in the stem

Past Subjunctive EndingsStart with the preterit tense “ellos,” form then drop (-on) and the imperfect subjunctive endings:
Form the past subjunctive by taking preterit tense (ellos) then drop (-on) and then adding the appropriate Imperfect subjunctive ending.
For example, let's conjugate: tener
We start with the preterit “ellos” form: tuvieron
We drop the ”-on" ending: tuvier-
We'll use the “yo" form for this example: tuviera
