Constitution / Temperament

- Our basic constitution depends on Pre-Heaven Qi:

. Jing Qi / Essence of the parents => defines

the form and therefore plays an important role in

“Constitution”. Zong / Ancestral Qi => is the cosmic Qi at the

moment of conception defines the destiny “Ming” and

influences the basic “Temperament”

- At all times we may adapt to outside changes with a

specific behavior = This is the called the “Behavior of

the moment”

The 6 Energy Levels

=> The “Six Energy Levels” reflect the outer

influences and man’s reactions to these influences

=> These are the six Grand Meridians, situated

between the inside and the outside, and having the

functions of protection and of communication

=> We can receive all the frequencies between Heaven

& Earth, but we will resonate more specifically with

those in relation with our “Constitutional” influances =

This is called our “Temperament”

Temperaments

- Each person has their usual energy level (Yin or

Yang), defined as “Temperament”. This state is

perceived as “normal” or “familiar” by them.

- Each person may move in to the complementary

energetic level and still feel rather comfortable,

providing this state is not maintained for too long.

Metal Constitution






Metal Constitution

• Metal types may also be tall (like Fire) but withnarrow shoulders, rounded back, and shorter legs.

• They are slow, precise, naturally elegant. A thin and

pale face with thin lips and eye brows, long face,

with deep wrinkles, square teeth.

• Friendly and placid looking (typical pipe smoker). May

also have a tortuous face with a hard, unyielding

look, or malicious and calculating and wary, or sadand bored look.

• More dry looking. May either be quite rigid or on the

contrary over lax.

Metal Hands

• The Metal type hands are also long, but the palm is

longer than the fingers. The hand has a pear shape.

• The fingers are not straight, may be crooked• There are often 3 interphalangial lines. The nails

are rectangular, quite elegant, white and often

striated.

• The nails may be occasionally short, quite rounded inboth planes (drum sticks).

Earth Constitution

• Earth types seem balanced and centered, with anearthy look. Large bones, shoulders, and thighs, a

short neck, round face, they can be fat.

• Not very agile and fast but strong, sometimes amassive athlete.

• Face is large, open and merry; thick lips, red face or

tip of nose and ears. Soft, reassuring, merry eyes,

slightly protruding.• May have a baldness on the front and top of the head

• Could be dressed carelessly

• The Earth type hands are short, square and

thick, with short and thick fingers.

• Often simple palmar lines, and single lines atthe inter-phalangial joints.

• The nails are triangular, rather flat, with a

very thick cuticle that may crack easily.

Case 1

A man of 67 was told to consult for a change of character since hisretirement causing conflict: complaining and discontent, picking on every

body, loss of sense of humor, slight depression with tendency to stay

home and isolate himself.

He is a typical “Metal” type, with a history of bronchitis & asthma. He

worked as a specialized builder in restoring monuments. He has kept adiary since his teens, noting all about the weather, daily events & news!

He would show up for his appointments 1 to 1.5 hours early.
