MOTHER’S DAY

“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short

while, but their hearts forever.”

I got this beautiful quote from www.shutterfly.com which I believe says a lot

about the mothers of the world. Today we celebrate Mother’s Day. Like Leonardo

DiCaprio, I would also say that ‘My mother is a walking miracle’. My father died

in his late 40’s. Too early, I should day. I was just 8 years old then. I may have

not any clue about what was happening but what I remember is that my mother

took everything in her heart. She decided to take care of all of us 6 siblings from

then on. I do not know how she did it, but we all were able to survive amidst

humps and bumps in life because of her. She died two years ago at 90 years old.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day today, show your love and care for your mom.

Nowadays, more than ever, in these days of social distancing and staying home

safe, it is very important to show our love and care for our mothers as we

hunker down together at home to fight against this invisible enemy. Show her

how much you love and care for her. Tell her about the good things she did for

you and how she means to you. This is just the least we can do to show our

gratitude and appreciation for what they do. If you are not together at home for

some reason, call her or send her a text message to show her that you remember

her with love at this time of crisis and always.

On behalf of the parish community at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, I

would like to greet all the mothers a very happy Mother’s Day. I would say that

the world would never be the same without the mothers of this world. You are

all walking miracles, and you deserve to have a special day. May the good Lord

shower you with all the blessings you deserve and keep you safe always,

especially at this time of health emergency. Stay safe and rest assured of my

prayers for you. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

5th Sunday of Easter The Hellenists (converts whose language was Greek)

complained that their widows did not receive a fair share of the church's social services. The solution to

the apostles' problem shows how changes in practice are not only possible but necessary for the health of the church.

The solution shows two important dimensions of church life: prayer and service.

Each of us is personally called to prayer, to a dialogue of adoration with God; and we are also called to service. No matter what we do in life, our work affects

others in some way. Prayer and the preaching of the Word were of primary importance to the apostles; but service to widows and those in need in the

community was also vital, so they appointed seven trusted men to attend to them.

As a result, the disciples in Jerusalem increased in number. We can ask

ourselves how this type of growth in the church could be revived in our day. In St. Peter's letter, the church imagines itself as a spiritual temple, with ourselves

as living stones that form a living house of God. Every time we say the Lord's Prayer, "Your kingdom come." Does this imply taking some responsibility for

spreading the word and doing something to build the church? We can work for the kingdom of God through our daily behavior and attitudes.

The cornerstone of the church is Christ Himself, and He encourages us even today. If he leaves, it is to prepare a place for us in his Father's house, which

has many rooms. So there is a place for all of us in the kingdom. Each person has gifts of nature and grace, each must have a voice in the life of the church,

as the apostles demonstrate in the first reading.

Many people today consider faith irrelevant because their notion of God is flawed or distorted. To have an authentic image of what God is like, we must look at

Jesus, who said: "I am in the Father and the Father is in me." It shows what the invisible Father is like: concerned for all, interested in all, respecting all, calling

sinners to their homes. It is this welcoming God who adores our church, and we renew our trust in Him.

VOCATION

Roman Catholics in the

United States spend a good deal of time speaking

of “vocation” and the manner in which each of

us discerns our vocation

for life. In today’s apostolic letter, however, Peter gives

us the “cornerstone” of our vocation, the description of

what each of us is called

to first and foremost by our baptism. He describes

our vocation as “a chosen race, a royal priesthood,

a holy nation, a people of [God’s] own, so that you

may announce the

praises” of Christ, who called us out of darkness

into light (1 Peter 2:9). All of us, no matter what path

our life’s vocation may

take us down, have been chosen by God, made holy,

and anointed as priests in the high priesthood of

Christ through baptism. All of this, so that we may

announce the praises of

Christ. Vocation is given for proclamation at home,

in the workplace—wherever life takes us—

in service, in word,

SAINT OF THE WEEK SAINT DAMIEN JOSEPH DE

VEUSTER OF MOLOKA’I

(1840-1889) Feast Day: May 10

In the mid-1990s, a heavily bearded,

bespectacled Robin Williams appeared

on Late Night with David Letterman,

whose host was clearly taken aback.

Letterman inquired as to why the wild

look. Uncharacteristically subdued, the

usually manic comic responded that he

was producing and starring in a movie

about a most extraordinarily

compassionate man, Damien, the

Leper Priest of Moloka’i.

Some saints transcend religious and

ethnic boundaries to touch the heart

that beats in each human being: Francis

of Assisi; Mother Teresa; and, though

Williams’ film was never completed, his

admiration speaks, as does Damien’s

statue outside the capitol in Honolulu,

of this newest saint’s universal appeal.

Far from his native Flanders’ idyllic

beauty and rich culture, Damien

volunteered to bear Christ’s light into

Moloka’i’s bleak leper colony, building

decent homes, opening schools,

establishing clinics, planting farms,

sharing the sufferings—and the social

stigma—of those with whom he

delighted to identify: “We lepers,” he

would proudly say when finally he

contracted leprosy. Saint Damien

challenges us to identify the lepers of

our own day, to examine our compassion

DIA DE LA MADRE

"Las madres sostienen las manos de sus hijos por un corto

tiempo, pero sus corazones para siempre". -Desconocido

Tomé esta hermosa cita de www.shutterfly.com que creo dice

mucho sobre las madres del mundo. Hoy celebramos el Día de

la Madre. Al igual que Leonardo DiCaprio dice a su madre, también diría que

"Mi madre es un milagro andante". Mi padre murió a los 40 años. Demasiado

temprano, debería decirlo. Tenía solo 8 años entonces. Puede que no tenga ni

idea de lo que estaba sucediendo, pero lo que recuerdo es que mi madre tomó

todo en su corazón. Ella decidió cuidar de todos nosotros seis hermanos a partir

de entonces. No sé cómo lo hizo, pero todos hemos sobrevivido en medio de los

baches y los golpes en la vida gracias a ella. Ella murió hace dos años a los 90

años.

Mientras celebramos el Día de la Madre hoy, demuestre su amor y cuidado por

su madre. Hoy en día, más que nunca, en estos días de distanciamiento social y

estar a salvo en casa, es muy importante mostrar nuestro amor y cuidado por

nuestras madres mientras nos acurrucamos juntos en casa para luchar contra

este enemigo invisible. Muéstrale cuánto la amas y cuidas de ella. Cuéntale

sobre las cosas buenas que hizo por ti y cómo ella significa para ti. Esto es lo

menos que podemos hacer para mostrar nuestra gratitud y aprecio por lo que

hacen. Si no están juntos en casa por alguna razón, llámela o envíele un

mensaje de texto para demostrarle que la recuerda con amor en este momento

de crisis y siempre.

En nombre de la comunidad parroquial de la Iglesia de Inmaculado Corazón de

María, me gustaría saludar a todas las madres un muy feliz Día de la Madre.

Yo diría que el mundo nunca sería el mismo sin las madres de este mundo.

Todos ustedes son milagros andantes y merecen tener un día especial. Que el

buen Señor lo bañe con todas las bendiciones que merece y lo mantenga a salvo

siempre, especialmente en este momento de emergencia de salud. Manténgase

a salvo y tenga la seguridad de mis oraciones por ustedes. ¡FELIZ DÍA DE

LAS MADRES!

Mensaje de Padre Tino...

5to Domingo de Pascua

Los helenistas (conversos cuyo idioma era el griego) se

quejaron de que sus viudas no recibían una parte justa de los servicios sociales de la iglesia. La solución al

problema de los apóstoles muestra cómo los cambios de práctica no solo son posibles sino necesarios para la

salud de la iglesia.

La solución muestra dos dimensiones importantes de la vida de la iglesia: oración y servicio. Cada uno de nosotros está llamado personalmente a la

oración, a un diálogo de adoración con Dios; y también estamos llamados al servicio. No importa lo que hagamos en la vida, nuestro trabajo afecta a otros de

alguna manera. La oración y la predicación de la palabra eran de primordial importancia para los apóstoles; pero el servicio a las viudas y a los necesitados

en la comunidad también era vital, por lo que designaron a siete hombres de confianza para que los atendieran.

Como resultado, los discípulos en Jerusalén aumentaron en número. Podemos

preguntarnos cómo este tipo de crecimiento en la iglesia podría revivirse en nuestros días. En la carta de San Pedro, la iglesia se imagina como un templo

espiritual, con nosotros mismos como piedras vivas que forman una casa viva de Dios. Cada vez que decimos la Oración del Señor "venga tu reino". ¿Esto

implica asumir alguna responsabilidad por difundir la palabra y hacer algo para edificar la iglesia? Podemos trabajar por el reino de Dios mediante nuestra

conducta y actitudes diarias.

La piedra angular de la iglesia es Cristo mismo, y él nos anima incluso hoy. Si él se va, es para prepararnos un lugar en la casa de su Padre, que tiene muchas

habitaciones. Así que hay un lugar para todos nosotros en el reino. Cada persona tiene dones de naturaleza y gracia, cada uno debe tener voz en la vida

de la iglesia, como lo demuestran los apóstoles en la primera lectura.

Muchas personas hoy consideran la fe como irrelevante porque su noción de Dios es defectuosa o distorsionada. Para tener una imagen auténtica de cómo es

Dios, debemos mirar a Jesús, quien dijo: "Estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en mí". Muestra cómo es el Padre invisible: preocupado por todos, interesado en

todos, respetando a todos, llamando a los pecadores a sus hogares. Este Dios acogedor es el que adora nuestra iglesia, y renovamos nuestra confianza en Él.

SAN ISIDRO LABRADOR (1070-1130)

Festivo: 15 de mayo

Isidro nació en Madrid y

toda su vida trabajó como

campesino cerca de su ciudad

natal. Siendo campesino

trabajó siempre con el mismo

patrón, quien lo explotó y

sometió a largos jornales de

trabajo. Aun así, Isidro se

daba tiempo para asistir a la

Santa Misa y hacer oración a

lo largo del día. Para él

habían tres amores

indiscutibles: Dios, su

familia y la tierra. Siendo

muy pobres, él y su esposa

María, fueron capaces de

ayudar a otros pobres, de tal

suerte que la gente llegaba a su

casa de piedra por algo más

que pan. De hecho, los mismos

animales encontraban en ese

hogar un lugar de descanso.

En los pueblos de América

Latina, campesinos por

naturaleza, se le considera a

Isidro como el patrono de los

campesinos y este día se hace

una gran procesión con su

imagen para pedir a Dios que

bendiga la semilla y los

instrumentos de trabajo que

serán utilizados en el período

de cosecha. San Isidro

enseña que la explotación es

injusta y que aun así, es

VOCACIÓN

Los católicos en los

Estados Unidos pasan

mucho tiempo hablando de “vocación” y la manera

en que cada uno de nosotros discierne nuestra

vocación en la vida. Sin embargo, en la carta

apostólica de hoy, Pedro

nos da la “piedra angular” de nuestra vocación, lo

primero y principal en el llamado de cada uno de

nosotros a raíz de nuestro

Bautismo. Él describe nuestra vocación como

“estirpe elegida, sacerdocio real, nación

consagrada a Dios, pueblo de su propiedad para que

proclamen las obras

maravillosas de aquél [Cristo] quien nos llamó

de las tinieblas a su luz admirable”

(1 Pedro 2:9).

Todos nosotros, sin importar la senda por la

cual nuestra vocación de vida nos lleve, hemos sido

elegidos por Dios, hechos santos, y ungidos como

sacerdotes en el alto

sacerdocio de Cristo por nuestro Bautismo. Todo

esto, para que podamos anunciar las maravillas

de Cristo. Se nos da una

vocación para que proclamemos mediante

el servicio, la palabra y el sacramento dentro del

hogar, en el trabajo y dondequiera que nos

lleve la vida.
