By enhancing what nature is providing, IMERYS can op-

timise many parameters such as particle size, particle

shape, particle packing, crystal microstructure, colour, ab-

sorbency and hardness. These transformations can

change depending on the properties that the cosmetic

industry requires, such as opacity, matting, gloss, absorp-

tion, rheology, abrasiveness and barrier coatings.

For example, Imerys mineral products can now be

processed under conditions which allow us to assure typ-

ical industry requirements on microbiology. The new

ImerCare 04K illustrates this principal as it applies to

Kaolin.

In addition to kaolin, the ImerCareTM range also includes

PERLITEPerlite products are made from a

volcanic glass which contains water in

its inner structure. When heated

rapidly, the steam produced expands the

glass to form a foamed structure, which

can be used, when processed in fine controlled

particles, in many different personal care products.

The ImerCareTM “P” range perfectly meets high

purity, high absorption, excellent matting effect and

gentle abrasiveness requirements.

DIATOMACEOUS EARTHdiatomaceous Earth is a mineral

material consisting chiefly of

siliceous fragments of various

species of fossilized remains of

diatoms. It is divided into

categories based on its source;

freshwater or saltwater. Freshwater

diatomaceous Earth is mined from dry lake beds and

Saltwater diatomaceous Earth is mined from dry sea

beds.

The ImerCareTM “d” range meets high absorption,

excellent matting effect and gentle abrasiveness

requirements.

MICAMica under ImerCareTM “M” is a

naturally occurring silicate

mineral that is widely distributed

in different types of rock.

Mica often occurs as flakes, scraps or sheets and has been

used by humans since prehistoric times.

The true value of mica is in its unique physical properties.

Its highly delaminated sheets are platy, flexible, elastic

and can be transparent to opaque.

Muscovite mica can be incorporated in the formulations

of many cosmetics.

KAOLIN is a naturally occurring hydrated aluminium silicate. Careful processing results in soft, fine particles suitable

for use in a variety of personal care products.

IMERYS kaolin reserves can be found in the United Kingdom, Brazil, USa and australia.

It is characterised as al2Si2O5(OH)4. Kaolin has a crystalline structure and has platey, hexagonal crystals.

Purifying and hydrating mask for all skins with peg free emulsifiers. Kaolin to provide sebum and impurities absorption.

Process:

£ add satiaxane predispersed in glycerin in deionized water under mixing. Mix until gel is homogenous.

£ Warm phase a & B until 70-800C. add ain B under high shear mixing. Mix during 5mn.

£ add ImerCareTM 2K by sprinkling in the emulsion under mixing

£ Maintain agitation until t0 reach 400c, then add d, E, F and adjust pH if necessary.

£ When the t° is at 50°C , add F.


£ When it is at room t°C, add phase L without under a very low shear, and adjust the pH to 5-5,5 depending on your preservative system
