Teachers The teachers have stayed in India and Amazon for long time and have assimilated many valuable teachings and methods.

Basu began his sadhana (spiritual practice) in 1997 and in 2002 he was initiated in Kriya Yoga by Swami Shankarananda Giri. He have practiced in the presence of several respected teachers in India and Thailand and have developed deep experiential understanding in Kriya Yoga, Tantra and Mindfulness meditation. Sandra lived in the Amazon with different indigenous communities and par ticipated in various traditional ceremonies for two years. It was there where she received the call and inspiration to work with sacred sounds of Tibetan bowls, shamanic instruments, medicinal plants and women healing. In India she was initiated in Reiky, studied Ayurvedic massage and Shantala Baby massage. In Colombia she was initiated in therapy with Angels and in Nepal was initiated in the traditional secrets and ar t of singing bowl sound therapy. She also practices and shares her love inspired by nature and movement through healing dance with drums and shamanic yoga classes. Tiago star ted to deepen his understanding about spirituality in India, where he lives since 2009. His thirst for spirituality made him seek and practice with various spiritual masters all over India. In 2011 he studied Traditional Thai Massage with Yan Praphas Sangkhawat and reiki with Shanty. He continued to awaken his healing qualities along with Siddha Gurus and at Oneness University. In 2012 he met the Guru with whom he has been sharing a very close relationship, allowing him to have an immense intense Traditional Trantric Sadhana (spiritual practice) directly under the Guru’s guidance and grace.

The place

The retreat is taking place in Sintra, located near the westernmost point of continental Europe, nor thwest of Lisbon at 600 meters above sea level.

A Mountain Range having a cultural landscape classified by Unesco as World Heritage Site.

The name Sintra derives from Cynthia, “Goddess of the Moon”, who was worshipped here, on this small mountain range, by the Celts.

Sintra is greatly admired by the Por tuguese people, since it has an overwhelming nature and a climate and vegetation which is not

common in Southern Europe.Rich in history and tradition, Sintra with its romantic atmosphere has been lauded

by many writers, painters and ar tists who have spread the fame of this “Glorious Eden” to every corner of the world.

The Almáa Sintra Hostel is located in 10 minutes walk from the centre of the village of Sintra.

The Food

Suitable for the practices that are taking place, the food will be based in the delicious traditional vegetarian and vegan cuisine.

The typical day menu will have a nutritious and nourishing breakfast and lunch, and a light dinner.

Although we recommend this menu we are open to altering according to desired requirements.

The House and accommodation

Almáa Sintra Hostel is a Retreat Center and an Eco Hostel located in the hear t of Sintra. The house is sited in a proper ty with 3,5 ha of luxurious gardens,

an heavenly environment. Dated from 12st century is considered one of the oldest in Sintra.

The Hostel was named Almáa which means “The Water” in Arabic due to the inf luence of the moors in this region and the fantastic natural spring water that supplies the house,

and the gardens. “Alma” also means soul in Por tuguese.With the vision of sustainability and ecology,

the furniture was done with recycled materials by local ar tists with the help of charities, voluntary organizations and social enterprises,

which are also Almáa Sintra Hostel main suppliers.The range of accommodation is from

a private room to a 2, 3, 5 or 8 beds shared rooms. Every rooms has custom made single beds made out of recycled pallets (no bunk beds).

The surroundings

Walking from Village Center:1. Follow the directions of Quinta da Regaleira / Seteais.

2. At the front door of Quinta da Regaleira turn right (passing through a car park in front of an Arabic style house) and enter in Rua Trindade Coelho (it has a “dead end” sign).3. Follow that road for about 400 meters and you’ll get to Caminho dos F rades.

4. Keep going for 10 meters (don’t turn at Caminho da Fonte dos Amores) and you’ll find at your left hand the gate of the Hostel.

By train from downtown Lisbon:1. 40 minutes by train from Rossio Railway Station (downtown Lisbon) or Oriente Station (three tube stops from the airpor t). Get off at Sintra (last stop).

2. Take the 435 bus to Quinta da Regaleira.3. Follow the above instructions (Walking from Village Center), from number 2.

By car (about 20km from the airpor t):

1. F rom Lisbon take the road Segunda Circular/IC19 in the direction of Sintra.2. When you reach the end of the highway continue straight ahead.

3. Take the first exit at the roundabout, go past the BP Petrol Station towards Sintra and drive past the railway station to the town center.4. Follow the above instructions (Walking from Village Center).
