Recommended Browser Settings
For optimum performance, you are highly encouraged to incorporate the following recommended
settings into your internet browser prior to working with the IHS Enerdeq Browser application.
IHS Enerdeq is compatible with Internet Explorer (IE) 8 and 9, Mozilla Firefox and Google
Chrome. The discussions below discuss how to optimize your setup.
Recommended Settings for Internet Explorer 9
Pop-Up Blocker Setting IHS recommends that you allow pop-ups when using Enerdeq Browser.
Pop-up blockers can cause problems when opening new windows in Enerdeq.
If your default Browser is Internet Explorer 9, click the Tools command in the menu bar to open
and display a dropdown menu.
Place your mouse cursor over the Pop-up Blocker option to open and display a second menu.
Select and highlight the Turn Off Pop-up Blocker option.

Temporary Internet File Settings Scroll the Tools dropdown menu and click on Internet Options to open the Internet Options
page.
Go to the Browsing history section under the General tab.
Click the button to open a Temporary Internet Files and History Settings
window.

In the Check newer versions of stored pages section, make sure that the button next to
Automatically is checked.
This option forces the browser to look for new pages on the Internet rather than look in the
Temporary Internet files folder.
In the Disk space to use section, you can allocate up to 1024 MB of disk space for temporary
internet files (although a smaller amount – 50-250MB is recommended).
Use the arrows to change the amount of disk space to use.
Security Settings
Security issues that were present in the older versions of the Internet Explorer Browser
have been addressed in IE 9 and no longer need to be addressed.

The following settings are recommended for Internet Explorer (IE) 8.
Pop-up Blocker Settings IHS recommends that you allow pop-ups when using Enerdeq Browser.
Pop-up blockers can cause problems when opening new windows in Enerdeq.
Click the Tools command in the browser menu bar to display a dropdown menu.
Place your mouse cursor over the Pop-up Blocker option to display a second menu.
If the command reads Turn On Pop-up Blocker, the pop-up blocker is already turned off.

display the Internet Options window.

Scroll the list in the Websites: section and look for ihs.com in the list.
If the IHS address is not listed, you can add the URL in the open field above the list.

Click the Firefox desktop icon to open and display browser homepage.

To access the pop-up blocker settings click the Tools option in the menu bar.
Scroll to and click Options at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
In the Options window that follows, select and highlight the Content tab.

Uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows.
Temporary Internet File Settings The Temporary Internet Files folder is where web pages and files (such as graphics) are stored
on your computer.
This feature helps to speed up the display of pages that you have previously viewed or that you
visit on a regular basis.
Click the Tools option to open and re-display the Options window.
Click the Advanced option at the top of the window.

Click on the Network tab in the window.
In the Cached Web Content section, you can allocate disk space for temporary internet files.
IHS recommends that you limit your cache to 1024 MB.
You must check the box next to Override automatic cache management in order to
change the amount of disk space to allocate.
The arrows will become active, allowing you to increase or decrease the amount of disk
space.
In the Offline Web Content and User Data section, click the button.

Click the Chrome desktop icon to open the browser.

You can allow all pop-ups by disabling the pop-up blocker.
To allow pop-ups using the Google Chrome browser, click the Chrome button in the
upper right corner of the browser page to display a dropdown menu.
Click the Settings option in the menu.
A Settings page will display.
Scroll the menu in the page and click the hyperlinked Show advanced settings…option.
A list of Advanced Settings will display.
Scroll to the Privacy section and click the button.

A Content Settings pop-up window will display.
Scroll the options in the window.
In the Pop-ups section, you can check the radio button next to Allow all sites to show pop
ups or you can click the button to customize permissions by entering a
hostname and indicating if you want to allow pop-ups from the host or to block pop ups from
that host.
Temporary Internet File Settings Scroll to the Privacy section in the Settings page.
You can define privacy options by checking the appropriate boxes.
The button will address Cookies.
You choose to apply your settings options to all cookies and sites or you can define exceptions.
The button will provide several options to clear your cache.

How to Display Webpages in Separate Tabs
In IE 8, you can set up a view where pop-ups or multiple webpages will display in separate tabs
rather than display each page in a new window.
To set up a separate tab view:
Click the Tools command in your browser menu bar and select Internet Options in the
dropdown menu.
Go to the Tabs section and click the button.
A Tabbed Browsing Settings window will display.

Go to the When a pop-up is encountered: section and check the radio button next to the
Always open pop-ups in a new tab option.
Click the button to close the open Settings window and again to close the
Internet Options window.
In Enerdeq Browser v2.3, Enerdeq Browser functions no longer appear in multiple tabs thus
negating the need for tabbed browsing.

Creating a Windows Shortcut Icon
To make logging into the Enerdeq Browser simpler and quicker, you can create a shortcut icon
that can be displayed on your computer desktop display.
To create the shortcut icon, log into the Enerdeq Browser application.
Highlight and copy the URL at the top of the Enerdeq page.
Go to your desktop and right mouse click in an open area to display a shortcut menu.
Highlight the New option to display a second menu.

Highlight the Shortcut option in the second menu.
A Create Shortcut window will display.
In the Type the location of the item: field, paste the URL that you copied earlier.
Click the button to apply a name to the shortcut.
Click the button.
The newly created shortcut icon will now display on your computer desktop display.

When you double-click on the shortcut icon, the Enerdeq home page will display.
