• Small & Marginal moving away from Pulse production • Less remunerative • Large variation in productivity in year

• Risky crop • Pest and disease attack • Chilling stress, Drought and heat

stress • Very minimal or zero irrigation • Lack of knowledge • Poor crop management practices

Intervention Area

• Nalanda • Nagarnausa , Chandi, Hilsa

• Nawada • Sirdala, Meskaur , Akbarpur

• FPOs are formed and registered in all 6 locations • Average 100 farmers in each FPO

• Plan to expand the base to 300 -500 farmer in F.Y. 2016-17

• Farmer participatory varietal/ Technology selection trial • Demonstration and farmers drive • Evaluation by farmers on various parameters

• Yield , Crop duration, market price, disease and pest attack, frost and disease tolerance

• Promotion of selected seeds variety from next season
