Research on Interactive Design for

Abstract—With the popularization of the personal computer and the rise of the Internet,people have spent more and more time for attaching information through the web, and the way people acquire information has been changed. This paper will firstly examine the characteristics of traditional newspaper, and then explore the network digital newspaper's interactive way after considering its layout, text and picture interactive and voice interactive design. The definition of basic concept and the theoretical framework of interactive elements of network multimedia digital newspaper have been presented in this paper. Finally we will study the trend for network multimedia digital newspaper.

I. INTRODUCTION

A. The definition of newspaper "CiHai"considers that newspaper is a kind of

publications citing the latest news and commenting on current affairs, supplemented by regularly, continuous and pages approach to the public.

"Chinese Encyclopedia"recognizes that newspaper is given priority to news and news comment,regularly or continuous issued publications.Usually newspaper is in the style of printing pages,no binding,no cover,and with the fixed name.Most of them are published daily,else published every two days or every week.

"Concise Encyclopedia Britannica"thinks that a newspaper is a kind of daily or weekly publication.Usually, it publishes news and current affairs and comments on the public concerned affairs.

Above summarizing the theoretical interpretation about newspaper,newspaper may be defined as:newspapers published news and current affairs comment are mainly regularly to the public in printed style,which is an important carrier of mass communication,reflecting and guiding public opinion.

B. The classification of newspaper and modern new product of newspaper Common newspaper is commonly classified into

daily,evening, metropolis daily,weekly,but from different angles there are different types of classification.According to the different publication interval,it can be divided into daily,weekly,double weekly or longer time

newspaper;According to the different publication time,it can be divided into daily,morning and evening;According to the different political position,it can be divided into left and right newspaper;According to charge or not,it can be divided into charged newspaper and free newspaper;According to different media modality,it can be divided into printed newspaper,digital newspaper,network digital newspaper,mobile phone newspaper.[1]

Now with the appearance and rise of the new media,newspaper as the traditional media also accept impacts and challenges from new media. Chinese modern newspaper is consists of some new varieties,such as satellite newspapers, electronic newspapers, network multimedia digital newspaper,mobile phone newspapers etc,showing different development rules from traditional newspaper completely.

C. Network Multimedia digital newspaper Network is composed of several components (such as

electric elements, machine elements, optical components, computers etc.) that connected to a system.[2]

Multimedia,namely"the multimedia technology",is usually used to gathering numerical,text color,graphics,dynamic and static images,video,sound,music and language as a whole,study its generation,transmission and interactive processing technology.[3]

Multimedia digital newspaper could package the traditional paper into a newly one with the latest new media technology and network transmission method,which not only keep the traditional newspaper culture style,but also integrate the video, audio,animation and other new content.Now it is vivid,environmental,easy to operate,concise,and refreshing, bringing reader a brand-new reading experience.[4]

Therefore,network multimedia digital newspaper is another kind form of newspapers,which breaks the issuance ways, management mode and the popularity of reading terminal,uses internet technology to transmit information to the reader directly.

II. INTERACTIVE DESIGNS OF NETWORK MULTIMEDIA DIGITAL NEWSPAPER

Along with the popularization of the personal computer and the rise of the Internet,the topic on interactive is gradually getting more attraction. Interaction is essentially"one or two participants cycle in

listening,thinking, and saying, "L J or"between living organisms or a machine continuous function and the reaction process",[6]and interaction design is "a limited people about creation, environment and its system behavior disciplines" [7]. In this paper we intend to study its interaction from layout design,picture and text interaction, voice interaction,namely three performance elements of network digital newspaper.

A. Layout design of network digital newspaper According to the concept of visual communication

design,layout design usually refers to making information convey methodical yet elegant through the visual and component elements'combination arrangement. But network digital newspaper's layout is different from traditional newspaper, further more, it's a unlimited and unique design of space with hyperlink and interaction property, although its layout design is similar to traditional newspaper.Therefore, What is called layout design of network digital newspaper means taking a visual connection and appropriate arrangement in a limited screen space which arrange the multimedia elements organically according to a certain regular pattern of art,such as word ,pictures, color, animation and video. And then the transitive content in need of various component elements of equilibrium,harmonic, the rhythm of visual orientation and blank and so on, and according to the subject's requirements give the essential design.We know that people usually read something from top to bottom, left to right. So our visual process is an arc curve from the upper-left to the lower- right for a blank page (see Fig. l).In this arc curve,visual's advantage is digressive from the top to the bottom.In the page layout,the multidimensionality,hyperlink and infinity on the space of visiual of network digital newspaper are of vital importance.So reasonable using of the visual principle will help us reasonably decorate layout in the position of visual elements and pages layout area,which improve the efficiency of information transmission.In addition,for the same content of a digital newspaper,the reading order of a reader is not necessarily consistent,owing to the reading freedom the arranged information will be differently found or ignored by browsers,and will have different present appearance. Accordingly, the page layout design not noly considers visual process of a single page,but also pay more attention to the various possible links between the pages and pages and the delicate arrangement and guidance.

Finally,dynamics is the special way of network digital newspaper's existence,and also the salient features of layout design.Dynamics design of network digital newspaper's layout become the powerful means of enhancing layout's readability, participation and interestingness.Network digital newspaper's layout is different from traditional newspaper-the real-time update of information and interaction. Real­time interaction is the main reason that leads the network to be hotspot,also is the considered question for layout design.So the designers must be in accordance to the management objectives at all phases, coordinating the management strategies in different periods,and the feedback information of users,constantly adjust and modify

the layout.In order to maintain the attention rate and freshness from readers to many large digital newspaper, designers always regularly or irregularly adjust and modify the layout,continuously to create new digital works.

B. Text and picture interactive design of network digital newspaper Text element is the main part,from the original to

now;the text still cannot be replaced by any other elements of the important composition.The text mainly includes the title,information, text links with several main forms,not only with the spread function of traditional media text,but with the main characteristic of inter activity. In other word, which is based on HTML,CSS, JavaScript,ASP or other computer programming language,a single page in the different places and different two or more pages create hyperlink,page scrolling,ablaze text,user input text with an interactive adjustment typefaces,font,color and so on(see Fig. 2).

Pictures of network digital newspaper's layout plays an important role.The appearance of pictures broke the text layout at the early and also brought the new direct-viewing manifestation.Pictures often can arouse people's attention and reading interest,the visual impression of pictures is superior to the text, reasonable use of pictures can perform design topic directly and vividly, injecting vitality into the monotonous text and giving a person strong visual information. Pictures of network digital newspaper have the incomparable advantage than the traditional newspaper.For example,set up different part's hot zone settings of the same picture(hyperlink),dynamic effect,color performance,strong visionim pact,controllable and so many advantages (see Fig. 3).

Therefore,the most important characteristic of texts and pictures of network digital newspaper is its interactive,besides information dissemination, layout beautification,image showing. And this kind of interaction in the network digital newspaper got perfect showing from traditional newspaper static,linear and one-way primitive interaction properties to dynamic, nonlinear and two-way interactive way,thus changing the readers' needs and reading habits.

C. Voice interactive design of network digital newspaper Human recognition voice message and voice can be

divided into the semantic voice and non-semantic voice. The semantic voice can be also divided into phonetic sound and music. Phonetic sound is the language voice,its significance

is direct,and music is the voice of human spiritual world,its meaning is abstract.The non-semantic voice has the sound of human communication needs (such as door bell sound,bird sound,etc),also the voice without any meaning (such as noise,etc);

Digital audio is through computer instruction to sampling,operational,coding,make it become the "O" and " 1 " composed of binary code information,can be easily to access reproduction,transmission without damage,independent of noise and distortion of computer media files. The audio digital technology is the analog voice signal into "analog/digital (A/D)" conversion device,through logic operation turned into digital signals,and the computer can carry identify, edit,treatment and access them.Afterward,the digital signals is restored analog signals through "the analog/digital (A/D)" conversion device,then it can be outputted to the speaker for broadcast (see Fig. 4).

In the GUI design of network digital newspaper,voice interaction design is particularly conspicuous,the designers apply the digital audio to network multimedia digital newspapers reasonably.If the text of network digital newspaper is converted into voice,the readers can understand its content through interactive way.This can greatly improve the availability of information and at the same time adding some natural sound and background music,contrasting a perceptual color and personal taste in interactive behavior,which makes the readers free from insipidity in reading a text.

III. CONCLUSION

Today,network provides people with all kinds of information,no longer just pure text,dull image and simple audio files,but contains voice,video,and animation of multimedia technology,such as movies,network game,virtual pets and so on,therefore the network digital newspapers need these multimedia information and integrated information services.

At present,our country has opened more than one thousand network digital newspapers,the author extracted 124 among thousands of them as the sample,and analyzed

the present to forecast the trend of network digital newspaper in China.

Overall,Chinese network digital newspapers contain four formats roughly: the HTML, PDF, pictures and multimedia, specific data as follows (see Fig. 5). While searching in the content,some offer the whole newspaper retrieval,some provide historical layout retrieval, some offer the whole newspaper retrieval and historical layout retrieval, also some don't provide any retrieval services,specific data as follows (see Fig. 6).

We can see from the above data,Chinese network multimedia digital has just started,most of them are still in the stage of replica of the traditional newspaper,therefore,Chinese network digital newspaper should remedy the shortage of the traditional newspaper in the new form, content and services.To expand the influence,also better display products to push the effect of advertising a forward higher level,the multimedia newspapers provide readers with richer form and content. The provision of comprehensive information service can satisfy the information demand of people,not only bring income to the network digital newspaper,but also bring more faithful readers.

Therefore,multimedia and comprehensive information service is the trend of digital newspaper in our country.
