FIRST SEMESTER

SESSIONS PER WEEK: 3 (2 in ICT lab and 1 in home room) PROGRAMMED DAYS OFF: 2 (September 16th, November 17th) TOTAL AMOUNT OF SESSIONS IN THE SEMESTER (approximately): 48 ATTENDANCE

TOTAL AMOUNT OF PERMITTED ABSENCES: 9 (each missed session is an absence). Being late to class counts as half an absence. Teacher may restrict from entering to classroom when tardy. Students must turn in the official justification slip to cancel absence counting. Any missing work must be delivered as soon as possible.

EXPECTATIONS:

1. Use English as the language of communication in class.

2. In every case, all students must respectfully address themselves to teachers, fellow students and staff members.

3. For electronic communication, students must use their institutional email account. For any interruption in the service, the student must have an alternate account (Hotmail, gmail, yahoo, etc.)

4. Messages through any mean must be written in English.

5. All electronic projects must be sent to [email protected], otherwise, mails will be deleted without notice.

6. It’s mandatory that all students clearly identify their messages and projects. By rule, all messages must have a subject comprised of the group number, last names and topic. For example, Juan Rodríguez González from group 155 who sends Stage 4 Application Activity will establish 155-RodriguezGonzalez-Stage4ApplicationActivity as subject to the message. This same structure must be followed when naming files.

7. When emailing, always verify that files are no larger that 1.5 Mb and properly attached to the message. Files over specified size will be rejected.

8. In case of team projects, a copy of the final message must be sent to all team members. The message subject can only include the sender’s information, whereas all members of the team must be listed on the message section and on the attached document as well.

9. The student must keep all electronic messages in their inbox in case some issues have to be cleared. Also, a drive folder must be kept with all evidences and feedbacks done during the course.

10. Students must bring all their personal reading and writing supplies to class. Include a pair of earplugs.

11. It is required that all their evidences fulfill the basic identification, quality, mean of delivery and due date criteria.

12. Use Microsoft applications. No OpenOffice files will be accepted unless required. Do not attach files stored in virtual drives unless required.

13. All cellphones must be off or in silence mode during the class.

14. All students must visibly carry their id cards.

15. Students must keep from copying their work from someone else. If cheating is suspected, it will have a final value of 1.

Classifies and describes the hardware and software of a computer system.

Classifies the operating systems and describes its main functions.

Describes the common types of interfaces in operating systems.

Identifies the operating graphical environment components in Windows 7.

Manages the basic operation and settings tools in Windows 7.

Apply the basic and special working tools of Windows 7.

Generate video files in Movie Maker.

STAGE 2: MICROSOFT WORD

Chooses the correct options to start and exit Microsoft Word.

Describes the graphical elements of the operational environment.

Describes the suitable working methodology for creating and entering texts.

Manages the basic working tools of Microsoft Word.

Manages the special working tools of Microsoft Word.

STAGE 3: MICROSOFT EXCEL

Describes the working environment of Microsoft Excel.

Describes the correct procedure to create workbooks.

Describes the differences between data types.

Applies the procedures for inserting formulas and custom functions.

Handles the basic and special tools in the spreadsheet to solve problems.

STAGE 4: MICROSOFT POWERPOINT

Describes the working environment of Microsoft PowerPoint.

Applies the basic operation tools.

Creates presentations by inserting design and style elements, objects, links and animations.

Manipulates the motion of objects through animation and transition effects.

SECOND OPPORTUNITY You will be in second opportunity if your final grade is below 70.0 or your absences exceed 9. Before the global test, you will receive your global report card (see page 8) indicating which stages are considered failing. EXAM: 40% - Date: December 17th, 2014 PORTFOLIO 60% Due date: By second opportunity test NO EXTENSION. This portfolio consists of all missing activities or graded below 70. The files will be delivered via cloud drive, in a special folder named Second Op.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: If work in the ICT lab shall be done in couples, then no changes in teams is allowed.
