“Oh taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Psalm 34:8
November is a time for thankfulness, and we are giving thanks at the school for our amazing
staff of dedicated teachers and aides, our classrooms filled with wonderful students, and our
extended school community of parents and church members. The Lord has truly blessed us at St.
Paul’s Lutheran School! We will take time to thank God for his many gifts on Thanksgiving
vacation, which is scheduled for Wednesday through Friday, November 27-29.
Each Wednesday at our chapel services the students may bring an offering which is given to
various groups and mission projects. In August, September, and October we collected over $400
for Operation Christmas Child, and the students packed 16 shoeboxes filled with gifts for
children. These boxes will be sent all over the world to children in poverty and they will be
given the opportunity to learn the good news of Jesus after receiving the boxes. In November
and December our offerings are going to Mercy Meals, and we plan to pack meals at the school
in December.
On Sunday, November 17th, we will have our school science fair, with individual students
sharing science projects. This event will be held from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at the school, and you are
all invited to attend. First through third place awards in each grade level, and the People’s Choice
Award will be given at 5:00 p.m. We will also have our Scholastic book fair set up that evening
for purchases, which will make excellent holiday gifts. Please plan to attend this special school
event!
The PTL will also be hosting a Soup Supper on Sunday, November 17th in conjunction with the
Science Fair. They will be serving Chili, Chicken Noodle, and Potato Soup with cinnamon rolls
from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on November 17th. The meal will be a free-will offering meal with all
proceeds going to PTL projects. Join us for supper after the Science Fair!
We continue to save *General Mills – Box Tops for Education, *Sunmart Register Receipts,
*Our Family Labels, and *Tyson Project A+ Labels. As Christmas comes, we also remind you
that you can order gift cards through our Scrip program for your holiday gift giving. The gift
cards are bought at cost by you, but a portion of the sales is returned to the school! Scrip order
forms are available in the church or school offices. Thank you for helping with these collections.
In Christ,
Amy Duever

St. Paul wrote to the Church of Christ in Corinth: “Each one must give as he has decided in his
heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Cor 9:7). God
loves a cheerful giver. But who is a cheerful giver?
Abel was. By faith, Abel gave the firstborn of his flock, and it was acceptable in God’s sight.
Abraham was. By faith, Abraham prepared cakes and a tender choice calf for God and
entertained angels unaware. So also were David and Solomon. By faith, David would not make a
sacrifice to God that cost him nothing, so he paid Araunah his due. By faith, Solomon built a
house for God, where his name would dwell and thereby where He would dwell to be Israel’s
God and they His people.
What more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of all those who gave not simply for the joy
of giving but for the joy of knowing the One to whom they gave.
So also our Lord, who for the joy set before Him, gave everything, yes, even His life, enduring
the cross and scorning its shame. He gave to the shedding of His blood, willingly and resolutely
setting His face toward Jerusalem to die for the life of the world. Though He was rich in every
way, He became poor, so that by His poverty we might be rich beyond measure.
So then, let us – like Abel and Abraham, like David and Solomon, and even like our Lord Jesus
Christ – give cheerfully to God for the work of His kingdom in our midst. Like them, let us
decide in our heart – for the joy set before us – the joy of knowing the One to whom we give is
the One who gives us all good things.
