Introduction
National Rural Employment Guarantee Act passedon 5th September , 2005 and came into force inFeb,2006
100 days of guaranteed unskilled manual laborprovided on demand at a minimum wage
Types of work include water conservation, landdevelopment ,drought proofing, irrigation, rural
connectivity etc.
NREGA is designed as a safety net to reducemigration by rural poor households in the leanperiod

Low manpower to monitor the implementation ofprojects 1 engineer is supposed to handle manydistricts each consisting of many panchayats
Corruption is still a deep-rooted problem inLauriya district due to poor monitoring ofallocation of funds

Creating awareness through large scale
campaigns - both through electronic media andeducational programmes
Effective allocation of funds which should bemonitored and reported
Flexibility and empowering individual panchayats
to implement in areas according to particularvillage need
More technical support to the panchayats . The
entire block Lauriya has only 1 computer
