MASTER IN ADVANCED ARCHITECTURE

(MAA_01)OCT 2013 - JUN 2014 75 ECTS CREDITS CAMPUS BARCELONA 22@

MAA_01 is an educational program that offers interdisciplinary skills and understanding through the research of territorial, architectural and parametric design operations for the production of Self-sufficient Habitats. Proposing a dynamic, customized structure, the Institute gives its students the opportunity to create single or multi-scalar Studio agendas based on their academic interests within the program. The aim of IAAC is to form graduates who, after the completion of the program, will be able to develop their acquired skills in diverse professional environments, engaging in projects that range from large-scale sustainable planning and building construction to the industrialized fabrication of architectural components.

MASTER IN ADVANCED ARCHITECTURE THESIS

(MAA_02)OCT 2013 - JUN 2015 130 ECTS CREDITS CAMPUS BARCELONA 22@

The Master in Advanced Architecture 02 is a two-year master program consisting in the MAA_01 in the first year of the program and an Individual Thesis in the second year. This course explores theorical subjects and applies the research on Advanced Architecture in the new Society of Information.MAA_02 of 130 ECTS credits offers the possibility of developing a research project supported by Senior Faculty Experts from different disciplines as well as by IAAC collaborative Companies and Organizations. The program is oriented to graduates who wish to commit and develop their design research skills in the context of new forms of practice within architecture and urbanism, ranging from large-scale environments to digital fabrication.

MASTER IN SMART CITY PROJECT

(MSC)2013-14 75 ECTS CREDITSCAMPUS BARCELONA 22@

The Master in Smart City Projects is a program oriented to training new professionals that both City Government and Industries need in order to develop projects for the transformation of the cities, based on the implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the different layers of the urban environment. Every Master Candidate will develop technological seminars, city studies and pilot projects in order to have a global comprehension of the development of Smart City Projects based in real real-life environments. Through concepts such as Open Innovation and Public-Private Partnerships students will be developing new categories of projects, technologies and solutions that can be extended systematically to the cities of the world.

OPEN THESIS FABRICATION

(OTF) SEP - DEC 2013IAAC ACCREDITED CAMPUS BARCELONA 22@

The program emerges as an intensive applied research platform that combines academy and industry seeking for the development of innovative solutions in a wide range of fields (architecture, design, construction, interaction, technology, etc). The course is open to students and professionals who wish to develop a specific research agenda within the field of digital design and fabrication. It focuses on the development of full scale prototypes using advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery, applying experimental materials and smart energy solutions. Projects will be followed by experienced tutors and discussed with external guests and consultants.

(GSS) JULY 2013 IAAC ACCREDITED CAMPUS BARCELONA 22@ GSS is a two-week intensive program testing a distributed educational model and seeking to generate a dynamic network based on distributed knowledge and collective actions. GSS promotes a series of simultaneous workshops in different parts of the world under the same thematic. The program focuses its research on multiscalar strategies for the construction of our inhabiting environments (home, city, planet). Every year GSS incorporates agendas with research and education goals that combine science and technology with architecture and urban planning. Smart Cities, Smart Citizens, Self-Sufficiency, Self-Fabrication, Self-Organization, Self-Design and Self and Collective Intelligence are some of the key words on which the academic agenda of the program focuses.

GLOBAL SUMMER SCHOOL

MASTER IN ENVIRONMENT & LANDSCAPE

(MEL)SUSTAINABLE INTERVENTION IN EUROPEAN METROPOLITAN PARKS 2013-1475 ECTS CREDITSCAMPUS VALLDAURA

If urban parks operate under the logic of the city and parks under the logic of nature, the intermediate scale of metropolitan parks can address issues that affect processes of nature, of cities and their complex encounters. The Master focuses on these encounters across three fundamental topics: sudden events and natural disasters; the fragile balance between use and preservation; and the idea of misunderstood progress leading to aggressive interventions, habitats abandonment, and the challenges posed by productive activities and forest management. It is done in collaboration with the Collserola Natural Park and European Metropolitan Parks network Fedenatur.

MASTER IN DESIGN FOR SELF SUFFICIENCY

(MD4SS) ONE YEAR IN YOUR LIFE SEP 2013 - SEP 2014 130 ECTS CREDITSIMMERSIVE PROGRAMCAMPUS VALLDAURA

The Master in Design for Self-sufficiency is a year long immersive program developed at Valldaura in the heart of Collserola Metropolitan Park. The program, based on the principle of “learning by doing”, aims to develop how to design and build a self-sufficient habitat. Students will learn from hands-on advanced manufacturing techniques and natural processes connected to sustainable forest management, planting and harvesting according to permaculture techniques and production. During the program, that literally follows the four seasons, students will learn how to design and produce permanent structures such as lodges, windmills, warehouses, buildings or bridges.

MASTER INADVANCED INTERACTION

(MAI)OCT 2013 - JUN 2014 75 ECTS CREDITSCAMPUS BARCELONA 22@

MAI aims to explore the creative uses of technology for experimental and practical purposes. The program’s research integrates methods used in design, programming and social sciences to produce projects, prototypes and products that will define the outer limits of what it is possible to do imaginatively with technology today. The nature of the program is highly exploratory and also collaborative and interdisciplinary. With access to the Iaac Studio working space and its prototyping Fab Lab Bcn, students have the opportunity to be part of a highly international group, including faculty members, researchers and lecturers. They are encouraged to develop collective decision-making processes and materialize their project ideas.

(MP) A DESIGN FOR LIFEMAR - JUN 201475 ECTS CREDITS IMMERSIVE PROGRAMCAMPUS VALLDAURA

This three-month immersive program that aims to give participants a practical knowledge of life sciences used in Permaculture and a detailed theoretical explanation of the holistic design process, bringing both together to create consciously designed ecosystems. Joining together a team of experts in specific complementary fields with international Permaculturalists of long standing, the program aims to explore the simple elegance of Permaulture design, by combining agriculture, construction, renewable energy, large-scale water and earthworks, reforestation, alternative economics and communities and urbanism among others. Action-learning will give the students the necessary skills to produce beneficial change in their immediate environment.
