Dear Pastor Larisa, We are so grateful to God and the Faith family for the warmth and love we have received over the past six months. The time we have spent with you has confirmed for us that this, indeed, is a fellowship where love grows. We are blessed to have experienced and participated in your selfless service to the community and neigh-borhood. We leave with memories that we will always cherish—of the UMC Faith Church family, this beautiful country, and its wonderful people. We assure you of our prayers for the Covenant family in the days ahead.

Register for Organ & Tissue Donation: Faith member John Root has raised our awareness about

the importance of organ and tissue donation, as diabetes has affected his kidneys and he awaits a donation.

November 8th is Organ & Tissue Donor Sunday in the United Methodist Church. You may have told the

Driver’s License office that you want to be a donor, but you can take two more important (and easy) steps

to ensure that you can bless others through donation: tell your loved ones, and register: https://www.donatelifegeorgia.org/

register/ and http://www.organdonor.gov/becomingdonor/index.html . It’s online & quick! You can also pick up a

form at a public library. These websites answer common questions that people have about donation.

John writes, “When our automobile breaks down, we ask a mechanic to replace the broken part and we are generally

on our way in a day or two. When our body breaks down, a doctor may tell us that he can replace it, but it will be several

YEARS before he can get ‘the parts.’ God inspired modern medicine with the knowledge and skill to transplant vital organs

and tissue successfully. YOU can be a part of the solution by donating your organs and tissue giving life to a fellow human.

Not all donations need to be done specifically at death. Living donors provide blood, plasma, kidneys, etc...with minimal

effect on the donor at any age. Please check into what you can do for someone else, and then decide if you can be a donor.

Thanks for caring!”

Faith & Cumberland UMC --Where are we now on our merger?

We chose the temporary name of Covenant UMC. This will go on the church sign and on our

bulletin, website, and other things. It is a temporary name so that other names more appropriate to

location or vision might be chosen in the future.

Our new church council will begin meeting in November. A list of the council members is available

in the church narthex and on the website.

One of the first tasks is to prepare job descriptions for all positions.

We will continue to monitor and adjust the 2016 budget as needed. Our finance chair and treasurer

are aware of steps to be taken regarding the handling of assets, payroll, tax id, and other matters.

In January we may do pledges, and we will work on the 2016 calendar for programs, outreach, and

ministries.

The zoning for the Cumberland property continues to be in process, and though there are delays it is

because of the workload for the Commission. We are encouraged to reach out to the county

commission with our support of the plan.

Rev. Anderson and Rev. Parker are working with staff, teachers, and leaders to plan fellowship,

worship, and mission, so that Faith can do a great job welcoming Cumberland.

Let us keep praying: for Cumberland as they say good-bye to the church they love,

for our new leadership council, for the success of the sale,

and for our trust and love for each other to grow.

A word from Pastor Jenny Anderson Nick and I look forward to joining you in worship on Sunday, November 8th as we become Covenant United Methodist Church. I will be praying for you as we join together. Please pray for me. On Sunday, November 1st, Rev. Ludmila Garbuzovva will have been with you in worship. She is a good friend and serves as a pastor for First UMC Moscow Russia. Cumberland has supported the work of First UMC Moscow since its beginning in 1992. Rev. Garbuzova has visited Cumberland many times and we are excited to share this ministry with you.

Recipe for the Month of November

Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake

Cake:

1 (18 1/4 oz.) pkg. yellow cake mix

1 egg

8 Tbsp. melted butter

Filling:

1 8oz. Pkg. cream cheese, softened

1 15oz. can pumpkin

3 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

8 Tbsp. melted butter

1 16oz. Box powdered sugar

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine the cake mix,

eggs, and butter. Mix well with electric mixer. Pat the

mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13x9 pan.

Filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and

pumpkin until smooth. Add eggs, vanilla, and butter and

beat together. Next add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and

nutmeg and mix well. Spread pumpkin mixture over cake

batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to

overbake as the center should be a little gooey.

Variations: Pineapple: Instead of pumpkin, add a drained

20 ounce can of crushed pineapple to the cream cheese

filling.

Banana: Prepare cream cheese filling as directed,

beating in 2 ripe bananas instead of the pumpkin.
