Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 7” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 7” Fabric A square. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 9” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A square. Trim the block to measure 8 ½” square to make (1) Block One (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (12) Block Ones total.

2. Place (1) Fabric J-Template 1 triangle on top of (1) Fabric I-Template 2 triangle, right sides together, aligning the left sides (Fig. 2). Sew the two triangles together along the left side. Press the smaller triangle open.

3. Place (1) Fabric J-Template 3 triangle on top of the Fabric I-Template 2 triangle, right sides together, aligning the right sides (Fig. 3). Sew the two triangles together along the right side. Press the smaller triangle open to make (1) JIJ unit (Fig. 4). Trim the IJI unit to measure 2 ½” square.

4. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make (52) IJI units total.

5. Repeat Steps 2-3 using (8) Fabric G-Template 1 triangles, (8) Fabric I-Template 2 triangles and (8) Fabric G-Template 3 triangles to make (8) 2 ½” GIG units (Fig. 5).

7. Sew (1) 2 ½” Fabric E square, (2) GIG units and (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square to make (1) Corner unit (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (4) Corner units total.

8. Sew (1) 2 ½” Fabric E square, (2) JIJ units and (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square to make (1) Unit 2 (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (26) Unit 2’s total.

9. Sew (2) Unit 2’s, (1) 4 ½” Fabric C square and (1) 4 ½” Fabric D square together to make (1) Block Two (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (9) Block Twos total.

10. Sew (1) 4 ½” Fabric G square, (2) Unit 2’s and (1) 4 ½” Fabric H square together to make (1) Block Three (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (4) Block Threes total.

11. Place (1) 4 ½” Fabric J square on the left side of (1) 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric L strip, right sides together (Fig. 11). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 11). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 12). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)14. Sew (3) Block Twos and (2) Block Ones together, alternating them, to make Row One. Repeat to make Rows Three and Five.

15. Sew (3) Block Ones and (2) Block Threes together, alternating them, to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Four.

16. Sew the (5) rows together, in numerical order, to make the quilt top.

17. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 42 ½” Fabric K strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 40 ½” Fabric K strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

18. Sew (14) Unit 1’s together to make (1) Unit 1 strip. Repeat to make (4) Unit 1 strips total.

19. Sew (1) Unit 1 strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 3 ½” Fabric G square to each end of (1) Unit 1 strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

20. Sew (1) 3” x 53 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 3” x 48 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

21. Sew (1) 2” x 56 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 2” x 53 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

22. Sew (7) JLJ units together end to end to make (1) JLJ strip. Repeat to make (4) JLJ strips total.

Page 312. Place another 4 ½” Fabric J square on the right side of the 4 ½” x 8 ½” Fabric L strip, right sides together (Fig. 13). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 13). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 14). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance to make (1) JLJ unit.

13. Repeat Steps 11-12 to make (28) JLJ units total.

23. Sew (1) JLJ strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) Corner unit to each end of (1) JLJ strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.

24. Layer and quilt as desired. 25. Sew the (7) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric H strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

26. Bind as desired.
