Programme – 40th

series will be held at NMAM Institute of

Technology, Nitte during August 2017.

7. Outcome of the

programme:

Engineering students will exhibit the models/exhibits

and make presentation on project findings.

Few working models/exhibits will be selected for the

prizes and encouraged to product development and

registration for IPR.

Project proposals will be invited for the 41st series of

SPP.


2. Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) Cell Activities

1. Name of the

activity:

Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) Cell Activities

2. Objectives:

Build awareness on Rainwater Harvesting amongst target

groups

Awareness building among school and college children

Documentation and information dissemination on print and

electronic media

Development activities on RWH, ground water recharge and

used water recycling

Demonstration of cost effective and sustainable methods of

Rainwater Harvesting and Ground Water Recharge in the

local context through ULBs and PR Institutions

Provide technical support in design, plan and execution of

RWH projects

5. Targeted

Beneficiaries:

Skill development programme to train Architects, Engineers and

Plumbing contractors for hands on training and rainwater harvesting

project planning are being conducted every month. Since inception 71

training programmes are conducted till date and around 1,800 trained

personals are offering their services. RWH App is developed with the

support of UNESCO by KSCST for web and Mobile users. Blog

"RainManSpeaks from Bengaluru" is in the web since April 1st 2014

and has published 81 posts. The reach as of February 2017 is over

52,000 and in over 20 countries. Quiz and Debate programs are

organized to build awareness among students and faculty of schools

and colleges. Over sixty five Quiz and Debate programs were

conducted.

for planning rainwater harvesting systems in over 300

institutions (Public and private sector, Multinationals and

To develop web based Geo Portal to acquire, process,

store, distribute and improve the utilization of geo

spatial data including development of web based

geospatial applications.

Development of a sound geo-spatial data asset

management plan for appropriate management of the

data sets and clear identification of data gaps in

different schemes/ programmes for fresh data

acquisition using advanced state-of-the-art tools/

sensors for supporting future planning activities at the

local level.

Adoption and customisation DSS developed by district

NRDMS project personnel using the Karnataka Geo-

portal services.

Implementation of the National Data Registry (NDR)

and National Geographical Information System

(NGIS).

proper schema development and deployment to ensure

effective sharing of feature data amongst the

stakeholders.

Geospatial applications for selected schemes of few

departments.

Asset creation and updation with proper data structure/

schema.

Action plan on data updation, asset mapping, GIS

application development.


5. KSCST Geospatial Chair

1. Name of the activity: KSCST Geospatial Chair

2. Objectives:

To foster the concept and application of

geospatial technologies in natural resources

and infrastructure management

To conceive and organise

multidisciplinary, multi institutional

research programmes to develop a vibrant

geospatial data infrastructure that can

support decision making for creation and

management of their infrastructures.

Evolve multi-pronged strategies for active

use of the Geo-spatial infrastructure by the

user communities.

2. Objectives: Council has been active in implementing programs of scientific

nature aimed at betterment of society and also has been engaging

itself in organising various activities like - Training programmes,

workshops, etc., in addition to the implementation of projects and

programs have been arranged by the Council. Council has also

established a Multi-media Studio cum Video Conferencing

Centre at the Council (KSCST library building). This facility is

being used

(i) to stream and record lectures of eminent scientists for access

by students in schools / colleges all over the state and beyond

(ii) For interactive meets

(iii) Video conferencing

(iv) for interim evaluation of Student Project Programme projects

in different nodal centres / institutions and interaction with

NRDMS Officials in the districts, and

(v) To deliver technical lectures and experiments to the VL

schools, etc.

Keeping in view of the increased activities of the Council and its

associated essentialities, it is proposed to strengthen the KSCST

secretariat computer hardware and software requirements.

browsers, latest technology, graphic interface, design of

KSCST web portal which would help KSCST's objective of

reaching out to more students, faculty and general public in a

more impactful manner.
