“I Hope You Know”

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the

year: “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”

And he replied:

“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than light

and safer than a known way.” So I went forth, and finding the Hand of God, trod

gladly into the night. And He led me towards the hills

and the breaking of day in the lone East.

So heart bestill:

What need our little life Our human life to know,

If God hath comprehension?

In all the dizzy strife Of things both high and low,

God hideth His intention.

God knows. His will Is best. The stretch of years

Which wind ahead, so dim To our imperfect vision,

Are clear to God. Our fears

Are premature; In Him, All time hath full provision.

Then rest: until

God moves to lift the veil From our impatient eyes,

When, as the sweeter features Of Life’s stern face we hail,

Fair beyond all surmise

God’s thought around His creatures Our mind shall fill.

(Poem by Minnie Louise Haskins)

In bidding farewell to 2013 and our theme, “Living

Your Tomorrow,” we gave our attention to our guiding text, James 4:13-17. James calls for

believers to see the power which rests in their hands, when it comes to choosing to live by the

will of God in their lives for the plans of each day.

We are able to do far more than we believe, when we believe in the power of God and not our own

will.

Amy Morin, wrote an article for the November 18, 2013 edition of Forbes Magazine. She supplied a

list of “13 Things Mentally Strong People Avoid.” In illustrating the point of what great strength

comes from a will founded in God’s will, that list was used. The list focused on things which are

avoided or not done in the lives of those

considered mentally resilient. While the list is reprinted from Forbes the scripture references are

supplied by this author and submitted for your consideration. 1. Waste Time Feeling Sorry for

Themselves (II Corinthians 11:22-28). 2. Give

Away Their Power (Proverbs 23:7). 3. Shy Away from Change (Psalm 118:24). 4. Waste Energy on

Things They Can’t Control (Matthew 15:12-14). 5. Worry About Pleasing Others (Mark 1:35-38). 6.

Fear Taking Calculated Risks (Galatians 4:4). 7. Dwell on the Past (Philippians 3:12-14). 8. Make

the Same Mistakes Over and Over (Ephesians 5:15

-16). 9. Resent Other People’s Success (Romans 12:15). 10. Give Up After Failure (Luke 18:1-8).

11. Fear Alone Time (Mark 6:31). 12. Feel the World Owes Them Anything (Romans 1:14-16).

you will focus your will back to the will of God.

God bless you and yours in 2014!

CAMP SNOWBALL VIII, #INCREDIBLE! All together about 75 of us were on the hill for

this unforgettable weekend. The theme was Avalanche as we looked at giving from Luke 6:38. This verse was broken down and looked at in our devotionals buy Matthew, Coach McCord, and myself. The three days also was packed with ice skating, a Japanese feast, social media challenges, Chilton’s Caravan, a flag football tournament, team games of ice hockey and wiffleball, snowman building competition, Chessor’s challenges, minute to win it, the guard game, dodgeball, service projects at Tulipwood,

preparing food boxes, and hauling off brush and a whole lot more. The meals were delicious and the memories will last forever. Thank you to Matthew Dotson for the planning, preparation, the many hours put in and the non-stop enthusiasm to keep everyone enjoying themselves. Also, thank you to Clay Chessor, Derek & Rachel Newsom, Joey & Paula Chilton, Gaylon Cude, Emily Gatewood, Lynn Rushton, Allison Adcock, Kendra Beard, Tori Hughes, J.T. Nicholson, Jamison Matney, Adam Mayberry, Will Mayberry, Ethan Skelton, Colton Anderson, Bradley Horner for giving so much to make this weekend as great as it was. Also, thank you to Roger & Susan Dotson, Belinda Potts, Misty Shelton, Cissy Potts, Tara Chessor, and Jamie Lawson for helping with meals and extra stuff. Original plans were to have a return in 2015, but we were begged to bring it back in 2014… so we will! Circle Sunday, Dec. 28-Tuesday, Dec. 30 for IX to be here! I cannot wait!

WHAT A SUPPORTIVE AND ENCOURAGING time our planning sessions are. We have a wonderful group of youth, parents, and volunteers. Sunday’s planning session has left us with only a few spaces for hosts for our Firesides and Lighthouses. If you are interested in hosting,

let me know!

CALENDARS WILL BE FINISHED SOON! In the next few days you can pick up a calendar, get one off our website, and even get one on twitter and facebook. Soon our App will be available where you can link to the youth calendar too. Just trying to keep

you informed about all we have going on. We want you to know there is a place for you and activities to help us grow closer as a group and to our Lord! Invite, encourage, and get involved like never before!

WE ALL ENJOY THE BUY ONE GET ONE HALF OFF, pick two get one free, and so on. Well, when we look at Luke 6:38 we are told, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over..." God does not only reward us for doing good, but he is going to overflow our cup in return. We cannot out give God, nor is that the purpose. Our goal is just to give. Your possessions, your encouragement and support, your time, give what you can so others may get that glimpse of our Lord. What have you given today? Giving yourself should be the first step. Follow His path, -Craig
