Thanks again for your encouragement. As most of you know our ministry friends in Mexico asked the elders if Jo and I could come to Mexico this fall. They would like us to share insight along the theme The Minister and his family, i.e.; balancing ministry life, relationship with your wife, and relationship with your children. My friends in Mexico are special to me. I’m excited about the opportunity (Jo is getting there). Yet this is a big unexpected expense. If anyone would like to help with this, that would really be appreciated. Make your check out to the church and designate Mexico trip. If you are in town this weekend I hope you will be in one of the worship services. Invite someone to worship with you this Sunday. Lord willing, I hope to see you and your guests on the Lord’s Day. I love you with the love of the Lord. Dwight

Bits & Pieces … Odds & Ends … This & That …

I have several things I want to “talk about” today. So here we go.

WOW … it’s kinda hard to believe that school is now back in session. Where did the summer go? With school back in session we will soon be gearing up our Wednesday night activities. Charity and her crew will provide fun and exciting stuff for our children. Tom will continue to challenge our teens. And there will be Bible classes for the adults. There will be additional details in the next Messenger.

This year’s NACC was really good. The theme was Re: Mission. Each service was a challenge to get back on mission – taking the gospel to a lost and dying world. Jo and I gleaned a lot of good stuff that we will be sharing with you in the months ahead. This week of worship and networking and quiet time and study and family time and fellowship with friends was really something we both needed. Again, we really appreciate the elders and you, our church family, loving us enough that you make these opportunities available.

It’s a little thing … but you know one of the things I enjoy most about the worship services when we are away … worshiping side by side with Jo. She is not only my wife, she is still my best friend. It’s nice to sit together when someone is teaching and agree with the challenge. Sometimes it’s really nice to worship free from distractions of responsibility.

Thanks so much for the kind words regarding the recent sermons. Without a doubt they were difficult subjects. But your interest, your attentiveness, and your response makes it rewarding.

Thank A Big T Thank

One of the missions that we support, Agape Christian Mission, has undertaken the task to “Raise the Roof” in Jacmel, Haiti. Linda Lahr, director, has made it the goal of the mission to get the church that exists just outside of Jacmel in the Bremen community under roof for some time now. With about half the money raised, Linda contacted our youth minister, Tom Peters, about travelling to Haiti to meet with a potential builder who would manufacture the building in the states and ship it to Haiti to be assembled on site. In May they travelled to Haiti and met with Gary Hays who is the founder of Erecta Shelters in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. After a couple days of measuring, the plan began to take shape. It was then that it became clear, and confirmed by engineers, that much of the current structure that had been damaged by tropical storms and the earthquake would not support a roof. On August 18th, Linda, Gary, and Tom will again travel to Jacmel to train the local Haitians on what will need to be done and what can be saved as well as prepare the site for our work crew that will arrive in September. Agape has always been a great partner with BCC and many of our members will again be going down for a weeklong Medical Mission Trip September 20-28. Travelling along will be a small work crew that will begin the rebuilding process by pouring footers for the new structure. While Agape still has a ways to go to get the necessary money, they are proceeding in faith. They believe God is providing ways to make this building happen and are acting in accordance with that belief. Already a donor has agreed to match up to $10,000 and when that is matched they will be within $10,000 of their goal. The next step will be to raise the final monies in order for the building to be shipped and to see a March 2015 goal for assembly of the building. (Tom is currently enlisting anyone who might be interested in that trip). Will you prayerfully consider a gift to Agape? Right now your $50 gift could be $100, and your $100 gift could be $200. May God bless whatever you decide you can give.

God Speaking Author Unknown

The man whispered, "God, speak to me." And a meadowlark sang. But the man did not hear.

So the man yelled, "God, speak to me." And the thunder & lightning rolled across the sky.

But the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said, "God, let me see you." And a star shined brightly. But the man did not see.

And the man shouted, "God, show me a miracle." And a life was born.

But the man did not notice.

So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me, God, and let me know you are here." Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man. But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
