The project aims to solve the economic and environmental problems faced by our society, in particular due to our dependency on oil. An environmentally responsible proposal to deal with this problem is to re-use agricultural waste and convert it into a clean source of energy. This project seeks to convert banana agricultural waste from several zones in the province of Azuay into hydrogen, a clean biofuel and an economic opportunity for the marginal areas.
Local employment opportunities. The project aims to generate an economic alternative that will aid to substitute artisanal mining, which is extremely harmful to the environ-ment.

Hydrogen will be generated in a clean and economic way and will be used for supplying energy. The use of local agricultural waste is what researchers and the scientific community is looking for, and it is considered as a priority for Ecuadorean government.
Hydrogen will be produced by a catalytic gasification of banana production waste (stems and leaves). The obtained hydrogen will be used as a source of energy.
