The Red October’s Captain Marko Ramius has years of experience, he is one of the Soviet Union’s
most highly regarded and trusted submarine commander. This experience and knowledge allows the
submarine to re-roll one failed dice roll per turn.
Caterpillar Drive
The Red October is fitted with a revolutionary magnetohydrodynamic drive known as the caterpillar.
This propels the vessel through water using only electric and magnetic fields. The drive has no
moving parts therefore making the submarine almost impossible to detect with sonar.
The caterpillar drive must be switched off in order to fire weapons and to surface. When the drive is
engaged the Red October’s UEW score increases to 9+
