Thecurrentthemestressesthecentralconflictofourtime–conflictbetweenhierarchyanditsrules,principlesandsocialcontract,andbroadpossibilitiesofnetworksocietyinself-organization,chaosandopportunitiesforeveryoneandeverywhere.Ourworkshopinvitesparticipantstoexplorethisthemeinaseriesoffreeassociationandreflectionevents,allowingalltouncoverthehiddenfears,threats,butalsohopesandbeliefs,whichthenewtimebrings.Thecentralmetaphorweofferisof“Rabbitinahat”butwhenyoupulltheears,youcangetanythingandnotjustrabbit.

IntroductionCurrenttechnologiesofcommunication,informationprocessingandeducation,tradeandcommerce,becomeintheavant-gardeofsocialstructures.Usuallifetracks(education-career-success)don'tguaranteesuccessanymore.Uncertaintyaccompanieseverylifedecisionofapersonasneverbefore,andoldschemesandadvicecan'thelp.Hierarchicalstructures(infamilies,institutions,businessandevengovernments)don'tprovideforsecurityandeffectivefulfilmentofone'sownneedsanddesiresastheyusedtodo.Familyhierarchydemolishesasthetechnologicalgapbetweenthegenerationsbecomestoowide.Economicalhierarchiesfallaspeoplegetmoreopportunitiestodirectlyfindpartners,employees,customersthroughnetworkstructures,andthesearchformeaningoverweighsthesearchforjustmoney.Evengovernmentalhierarchiesmayfindthemselvesatrisksincemoreandmorecasesofcitizensself-organisationtakesplace.IntheRussiansociety–historicallyverytraditionalisticintermsofsocial,culturalandpoliticalstructures,thestruggleforprogressmaybecomethehardest.Whatsocialdefencesweasasocietycreatetocopewiththeconflict,whatdesireswehide,whatopportunitiesweseeandwhatresourcescouldhelpusmeetthechallengesoftomorrow.

AIMS•  AIMSTheworkshopprovidesasecureandconfidentspaceforuncoveringthedeepanxieties,defences,butalsodesiresandaspirationsoftheparticipantsbothasmembersofandoftenconsultantstothetransformingorganisationsandinstitutions.Attimesoftransformationthoroughinvestigationoftheunderlyingcurrentsanddynamicsofpeopleinsmallandlargegroups,societiesbecomesvital.Psychodynamicmethods,associationandreflectionspaces,provideforanopportunitytostudythesedeepdynamicsnotonlyontheindividualbutgroupandsociallevels.Aseriesofinterchangingfreeassociationandreflectionspacesinvitesparticipantstoseedifferencesandsimilarities,fearsandresourcesandmakehypothesisonwhatinternalturbulenceaccompaniesamodernmaninhisjourneyfromhierarchicalandstabletonetworkandad-hocsocietystructures.•  PARTICIPANTSTheeventwelcomespractitionersandexpertsinthefieldsofappliedpsychoanalysis,organisationpsychoanalysisandorganisationalstudies,coachesandconsultants,butalsothoseinterestedinreflectinguponbroadersocietydynamicsanddevelopment.
