HRCA has elections each year for
Board of Directors and District
Delegates.
Directors are elected by District
Delegates in March at the Annual
Meeting of Delegates, and serve
staggered two-year terms. This year
there are three board positions
available.
Delegates are elected by their
district constituents in April to serve
individual neighborhoods in the

for highlands ranch. The new program will begin april 5, 2010.

highlands ranch is divided into neighborhood “districts”. each district has an elected
“delegate”. This delegate is your voice for community and association matters. Delegates
gather monthly, the third Tuesday of each month, for the recreation advisory committee
(RaC)ateastridge.DelegatesmakerecommendationstotheBoardofDirectorson
importantmattersthatimpactourcommunity.youcan(andshould)contactyour
delegate to keep up to date on what’s going on in the ranch. you can find your delegate

SeRvICeSPROgRam - The hrca has entered into an
exciting new agreement with PrO Disposal as the Preferred
Provider of trash and recycling services in highlands ranch. This is a voluntary opt-
in program that will ultimately save you money. for the guaranteed price of $11.33
per month with no surcharges or environmental fees, you will receive trash removal
and single stream recycling services at your home. Please note that if you live in a
subassociation that has trash service provided through your subassociation assessment,
this program is not available to you. The pricing for the program goes into effect on
april 5, 2010. you can sign up at any time, but the price won’t be effective until that
date. each year the rate may change but only by a maximum that will be tied to a
ConsumerPriceIndex.Contactinformationforthisprogramislistedonthefrontof
this newsletter.
Trash Day Zones – highlands ranch will be split into five zones for trash and recycling
pick up days. as a result, your trash day may change from your current pickup day.
PrO Disposal and other trash service companies will be asked to pick up trash and
recyclables only on the specified day in each zone. The zone map is listed on our web
page, hrcaonline.org/trash,alongwithmanyotherfrequentlyaskedquestions.
Whatisthebenefittoourmembers?atpresent,manyhomeownerspayabout$20
permonthfortrashandrecyclingservices.Ifweassumethat20,000homessignup
forthisprogram,itcouldsavehomeownersover$2millionayear.Thatismoneythat
stays right in the pocket of homeowners in highlands ranch. additionally, this program
will reduce the number of days trash trucks will be in your neighborhood, provide
better aesthetics, reduce wear and tear on our roads, and reduce environmental
impacts. you may use your current containers, or schedule with PrO Disposal for a
96-gallontoterforbothtrashandrecyclables.
WhatisthebenefittotheHRCa?PRODisposalwillbeprovidingfreetrashand
recycling services at our recreation centers and for community events sponsored by
the hrca. each month the hrca will receive a report that includes customer service
reports, the tonnage of trash, recyclable materials, etc.
We encourage you to check your most recent trash and recycling invoice to see if this
new preferred provider program will work for you and save your household money.

When you think of great communities around the world, they
all have one thing in common, great people. Thanks to all of our
dedicated volunteers, we can say highlands ranch is one of the
best communities in the nation.
OneoftheHRCa’sBoard’sstrategicobjectivesistoprovideleadershipthatrepresents
the best interests of our community, now and in the future.
leadership is extraordinary, yet ordinary. It’s about eachoneof us, everyday,making
a difference - by defining what we value and believe in, and sharing that with others -
inspiring the achievement of our mission.
Justlastyear,wecompletedtheconveyanceoftheBackcountry,withoverfivemilesof
newtrails,whichintotalgivesusjustover11milesofprivateHRCatrails.Weopened
thenewsyntheticturfatWestridgeandtheIceRinkatTownCenter,andintroduced
exciting new programming for these new amenities. We strengthened our focus on the
environment by implementing facility-wide environmental initiatives and met cost savings
initiatives as well as sustainability goals.
In2010, theHRCawillcontinueto identifyandpursuecostsavingprogramssuchas
thenewopt-in(optional)trashcollectionandrecyclingprogrambeginningapril5.We’ll
continue to strengthen our relationships with community organizations and stakeholders,
and continue to offer first class recreational amenities, events, and recreational and
educational programming.

HOA NEWSHOlIDaylIgHTS Once the holidays are over, lights and decorations lose
their festive appeal. Please remember that all holiday
displaysmustberemovedwithin30daysafterthe
holiday. at this time all those great holiday decorations
should be taken down. homeowners who still have
holiday decorations up will be sent notices that they

originally decided to
volunteer because her
neighborhood district
did not have representation. Karen says that once she
startedserving,shereallyenjoyedtheterrificpeople
she gets to work with. Karen’s favorite things about
highlands ranch are the views from Daniel’s Park and
the activities and community of Town center. Thank
you, Karen, for your willingness to serve!
11th Annual rAcquet for
the cure 2010The 11th Annual Racquet for the Cure
Tournament kicks off with a Mixed Doubles Benefit on Friday evening.
Saturday, all-day Women’s Team play will offer competition for all levels, plus prize drawings and a great party that evening!
Our expanded Men’s Shootout will be used for Men’s Singles and Doubles play
on Saturday.
Mixed and Men’s entries will be limited, so enter early!
