HR Consulting Noida - How you feel about your job

How do you feel about your job? So how do we feel about our job ? And does our feeling about our job really affect our work? Well there have been a lot of research on these questions but an interesting experience made me to somehow answer these questions. My recent visit to my relatives made me to visit Jammu called the ‘City of Temples’. Even though I did not visit any of the temples but there was a different side of Jammu that I encountered in this visit. After I de-boarded from the bus in Jammu and boarded the local auto, I observed the auto-rickshaws all around the way. Unlike the Delhi autos, the Jammu autos were tidy, rather well-decorated with great safety standards. The Jammu auto-rickshaw’s had locked cover- stands on both sides of the auto for enhanced safety. On conversing with rickshaw owners, I came to know that unlike Delhi most of the auto-rickshaws used were owned than rented. Also most of them were driving auto-rickshaws from quite a long time. Also unlike Delhi auto-rickshaw drivers, the Jammu drivers were well groomed and had a sense of pride in their work. Next few days took me to use the local buses of Jammu, locally called ‘matadors’. Unlike Delhi buses –private and public ones, the Jammu buses were colorful with tidy upholstery. Most of the buses used well-to-do audio devices with loud speakers which played Dogri(local language) & 90’s Bollywood songs. Like their auto- rickshaw counterparts, the bus drivers and the conductors were again well groomed, well-dressed and had a sense of pride in their work.

How do you feel about your job?

So how do we feel about our job? And does our feeling about our job really affect our

work? Well there have been a lot of research on these questions but an interesting

experience made me to somehow answer these questions.

My recent visit to my relatives made me to visit Jammu called the ‘City of Temples’.

Even though I did not visit any of the temples but there was a different side of Jammu

that I encountered in this visit. After I de-boarded

from the bus in Jammu and boarded the local auto,

I observed the auto-rickshaws all around the way.

Unlike the Delhi autos, the Jammu autos were tidy,

rather well-decorated with great safety standards.

The Jammu auto-rickshaw’s had locked cover-

stands on both sides of the auto for enhanced safety. On conversing with rickshaw

owners, I came to know that unlike Delhi most of the auto-rickshaws used were owned

than rented. Also most of them were driving auto-rickshaws from quite a long time.

Also unlike Delhi auto-rickshaw drivers, the Jammu drivers were well groomed and had

a sense of pride in their work.

Next few days took me to use the local buses of Jammu, locally called ‘matadors’.

Unlike Delhi buses –private and public ones, the

Jammu buses were colorful with tidy upholstery.

Most of the buses used well-to-do audio devices

with loud speakers which played Dogri(local

language) & 90’s Bollywood songs. Like their auto-

rickshaw counterparts, the bus drivers and the

conductors were again well groomed, well-dressed

and had a sense of pride in their work.

On a generic view, the sense of pride could be seen

common in almost all the people engaged in so-called

‘odd’ jobs there. The vegetable sellers, the sweet sellers,

the local bakery man, all seemingly had a sense of pride

in their work. And this approach brought a different

quality to their work.

What I observed and then concluded may be coincidental

and hence biased but one thing is sure that it is not the

type of job but it is how we feel about the job that really

makes the difference. Our inclination towards our work

can have far-reaching effect on the quality of our work.

Well I found George Crane who somehow supported my observation to say that:

“There is no future in any job. The future lies in the man who holds the job.”

So, how do you feel about your job?
