When I first conceived the idea for Water’s Edge I wanted a project that would be as unique as the site on which it was to be built. I hired Don MacArthur with MMW Architects & Planners to help me develop the plan and to design the homes to be built at Water’s Edge

When it came to selecting a Builder, I was looking for someone that would give Water’s Edge the personal attention and care to detail that I felt it needed to truly become a one of a kind project. I considered most of Missoula’s premier Builders and interviewed several of them, including Wade Hoyt. Wade and I had been friends for many years and I had worked with him on several projects that he had built for himself or other clients, however I had never had him build anything for me. After giving it a great deal of consideration I decided that Wade and Hoyt Homes would be the right fit for Water’s Edge, and now nearly two years into the planning and construction process it is patently clear that I made the right choice.

To say that I am pleased with the job that Hoyt Homes has done for Water’s Edge would be an enormous understate-ment. Wade and his professional staff have done everything I could have ever expected of them and so much more. Wade handled the construction of the homes that have been built to date at Water’s Edge, which includes the exteriors of two duplex-style townhome buildings, finishing the interiors of two of these units for use as model homes (one side of each building), and installation of footings and utility connections for another two unit building.

Wade and his staff worked with the Architects, the interior designer and my wife and I to plan the homes, select materi-als and subcontractors that would meet our standards for quality and workmanship while at the same time getting the best prices possible for all of these services. During the construction process he provided daily, personal on-site atten-tion to every detail that went into making the homes at Water’s Edge truly a work of art. The attention to detail and the craftsmanship are as fine as you will find anywhere in Missoula. Both models at Water’s Edge were on the Parade of Homes (one in 2008 and the other in 2009) and received rave reviews by all that attended. The Stoneybrook model won the “Craftsmanship” and “Memorable Decor” awards in 2009, a testament to the care and quality of workmanship Hoyt Homes, their staff and subcontractors put into these homes.

Wade also served as the general contractor for the site improvements which included all infrastructure for the first phase of Water’s Edge, including streets, sewer, water, storm drainage and landscaping. He dealt with us the owners, the Architect, the Landscape Architect, the Engineer, two infrastructure contractors (one for the water main & services and another for the sewer services, streets, grading & storm drainage work) and the landscaping & irrigation contrac-tors. All work was completed in a timely and professional manner without a hitch.

I am most pleased to say that Hoyt Homes are part of the Water’s Edge team and we look forward to an ongoing rela-tionship with them as it is continues to be built out over the next few years. I can highly recommend Wade and Hoyt Homes to anyone that is interested in getting a first class product at a fair price while working with a great group of honest, hard working and truly caring people.

I have known Wade Hoyt on a personal basis for the past 9 or 10 years. So when my wife and I decided to build a home, Wade was the only contractor we considered. He is honest, hard working and genuinely considerate of those around him; Truly a man of integrity. As first time home builders, my wife and I didn’t know what to expect or how to proceed. The folks at Hoyt Homes were there at every step to show us what decisions needed to be made and when. They were all a joy to work with. Wade and crew seemed very open and accommodating to changes and ideas we had as the building progressed. We wanted a very unusual and difficult house, incorporating energy efficient and green building materials whenever possible. They took it all in stride and took care of any difficulties along the way. Using state of the art technologies and products, the progress was an absolute wonder to observe. The finished house was of such superior quality that the house has become a showpiece exemplifying the great craftsmen we have in Montana. Wade always seemed to know the right product and people to create the look and feel we were searching for. Rather than some of the building horror stories we have heard of other contractors, my wife and I view the time spent building our home as a joyful occasion. We consider Wade Hoyt a home builder of the highest caliber. We would highly recommend Hoyt Homes to anyone.

Hoyt Homes, Wade Hoyt and his crews, recently built a new home for Judy and I. Wade did a marvelous job of building a great home for us. He always listened to our thoughts as we made several changes along the way; he always quoted us the charge for any changes so the unknown costs were very small and he was always very quick in getting things done.

He uses top quality craftsmen and as a result we feel we have a very high quality home. After completion, Wade has stopped several times to inquire about the house and see if we needed anything. During construction, Wade was always easy to contact and there was never any doubt as to who was in charge. Wade has been wonderful to work with and both Judy and I highly reommend him!!!!

Dear Wade, Our dream for many years was to return to my hometown of Missoula when Susan and I retired. The dream was realized this April when we moved into our new custom home built up the Rattlesnake in the Apple Grove Neighborhood. The Hoyt Homes team of skilled employees and very capable subcontractors did first class work building our house! We want to thank you for the many skills you bring to your profession, and how you applied them to our project. You carefully managed the work to fit our budget and we experienced no significant cost surprises or overruns. You informed us exactly what each change order would cost. And, you worked closely with our architect and city and county officials to work through the permit and inspection phase of the project, build-ing this dwelling with compliance to current codes. When we asked, “If this were your home, what would you do?” you gave us the benefit of your many years of building fine homes for others. This home is tight, energy efficient and garners many compliments from our family, friends and passers-by. Wade, we love living here and are grateful we chose you to be our builder. We can recommend you highly for your integrity, attention to detail, and unhesitating follow-up to our many questions throughout the process. Your patience is superb. After 5 years of dreaming and designing our future home, it came time to pick a contractor/build-er. Since our plan was to make this our home for the next 40+ years, we didn’t take this task lightly. We researched the internet, we talked to people in the business, we talked with people who had recently built a home and then we interviewed a select few that had made it onto our list. After our interview with Wade Hoyt and his staff, we knew in our hearts this was the right builder for us! We were impressed initially with their professionalism and expertise yet the atmosphere of the office was fun and enthusiastic! We always found Wade and his staff to be prepared, knowledgeable and willing to listen to OUR needs and ideas! This was important to us since we had many personal ideas and goals for each space. The very few changes that had to be made were very painless and Wade made sure we understood why things had to be changed and asked for our opinions. Also, Wade’s follow-up was incredible, any time a problem did arise, things were taken care of immediately and this was true even after we had moved in and found things that needed some attention. We always felt that Wade was our advocate and was always fighting for us and our ultimate goal! It is probably worth mentioning that we were expecting our third child a month after the house was estimated to be completed. We explained to Wade that timing was crucial and we had to be in before the baby arrived. Even with some weather delays early in the project, Wade held true to his promise and we were settled into our new home exactly one month before our baby was born! We appreciated Wade’s ability to make a realistic and accurate building schedule and stick to it for the duration! The quality of construction is amazing. Wade and his crew took no short cuts regardless of cost or time and this shows in their final product. The quality goes beyond what the dollar figure shows…Wade definitely gave us higher quality than what we paid. The cost of our project was fair, honest and a good value. The payment schedule Wade has established is well documented, clear and understand-able. We always were aware of what was being spent and where we were with our budget. We were also impressed with all the sub-contractors and their work plus their respect for Wade spoke volumes to us! We thoroughly enjoyed the building process and were sad to bid the crew and Wade farewell when we were completed. Wade and his staff made an indelible mark on our family’s life, he created the home of our dreams and we feel so indebted to him! A day doesn’t pass that we look around our house and say, “We LOVE our house!” It is a satisfying feeling knowing that our 3 boys will always call this incredible place “home” forever. We could go on for pages about our awesome experience with Hoyt Homes but we’ll just close with telling you that Hoyt Homes is a honest, high quality and fun company that will produce a home beyond your expectations!

After practicing architecture for almost 30 years, I finally had the opportunity to design and build a home for myself. With providing architectural services for primar-ily residential design and working the whole time in Missoula, I of course had a large number of contractor clients, and invited their interest in building my new home. Wade Hoyt of Hoyt Homes was the low bidder among a number of contractors who responded to my solicitation, thus demonstrating his ability to be a cost effective builder. While some may believe that building with the low bidder becomes an exer-cise in contending with the contractor over change order extra costs, on the contrary, my experience with Wade was simply wonderful. I found ourselves working together to resolve questions as they arose, discuss-ing with Wade, his subcontractors and suppliers alternate design selections, improved methods of construction and better product choices. He and his crew helped this long time architect improve the final product in ways that I would not have anticipated. Wade kept me appraised of the project’s schedule and budget (which we kept), providing sufficient notice to me regarding the need to finalize materials and design choices so that the project wouldn’t be delayed, or suffer any cost increases. I was particularly grateful for the professionalism and skills of his subcontrac-tors, especially those that have so much impact on the finished product. These would include his framers, painters, trim carpenters, cabinet installers, and tile setters. These tradesman showed an exemplary level of skill and thoroughness. I highly recommend Hoyt Homes to anyone considering building a new home or remodeling. They will be rewarded with a level of thoroughness and professionalism that will meet the highest standards of the construction industry.
