Warming Up

• Get your muscles warmed up for the race by walking or jogging for a few minutes.

• Next do some light streching.• This will get your muscles prepared to work so you can run fast!

The Starting Line• All the runners will be called to the starting line.• Line up in a straight line but leave some space

between you and the other runners.• Get yourself in a ready position by stepping one foot

in front of the other and placing your hands on the ground.

• Listen for the words: “On your mark, Get set, GO!”

• After you hear “go” push off the ground and run as fast as you can!

• These words help make the race fair because everyone starts together.

During the Race• It is still important to leave enough room

between you and the other runners.• If you get to close you or another runner could

trip and fall. Ouch! • Keep moving those

legs. You are almost at the finish line!
