foster care in Tarrant County.

Success Story
Success Story
Terri entered foster care as a toddler. Then, she was adopted by her grandmother but found herself in foster care again when her
grandmother passed away. While in foster care as a teen, Terri focused on her school work and
band, graduating from North Crowley High School. With the help of her CASA volunteer,
Terri is now a thriving young woman in her first semester of college. A musician since 5th grade,
Terri has excelled in clarinet, participating in the Texas A&M Commerce Clarinet Colloquium, a nationwide conference. And, Terri was the only incoming Freshman to be asked to perform a World Premier and even had a Bass Clarinet solo in the piece! She is now playing the clarinet in the music program in college at Texas A&M Commerce. Her goal is to graduate with her degree in Music with a certificate in Education, to work towards becoming a Band Director.
Terri has thrived with the understanding and support from her CASA Advocate and CPS caseworker, who have attended Terri’s marching band practices, watched
her perform in games, and even helped transport her to and from the Clarinet Colloquium. When Terri moved into her college dorm, her
CASA Advocate DD Holmes, CPS Caseworker, COS Coordinator and previous foster parents, were all asked to help move her to
college, because she was excited to show off “all her parents” to her new friends!
This dedication to children in foster care is shared by hundreds of other CASA of Tarrant County volunteers. Find out how you can make a life-changing difference in a child’s life at SpeakUpForAChild.org.

Please contact Dee Schauer, Outreach/Recruitment Specialist, at 817.877.5891 or [email protected] today! Information sessions are held at the CASA office with the following scheduled dates and times listed below:
NOVEMBER 2015Saturday 11/7 12 noonThursday 11/12 12 noonThursday 11/19 6pm
DECEMBER 2015Saturday 12/5 12 noonThursday 12/10 12 noonThursday 12/17 12 noon
OUR PROGRAMCASA of Tarrant County is a volunteer-powered organization that works solely for the benefit of children caught in the foster care system through no fault of their own. CASA volunteers are individuals from our community who believe that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves to be in a safe and loving home. Volunteer advocates serve as the judge’s eyes and ears, speak up for the child in court, and recommend whether the child should stay with his or her parents, be placed with relatives, or be freed for permanent adoption. They are regular people making a remarkable impact.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE “I didn’t expect to be as trusted by the family members as I am. They trust me because I’m giving my time. They’re literally stuck in this situation, but I’m choosing to be there beside them and that earns me some credit.” —Trista Allen, volunteer since 2010 “Having the ability to influence the legal decisions made for a foster child is so powerful. It’s a lifelong impact I can make in these boys’ lives.” —Fernando Ospina, volunteer since 2012
REGULAR PEOPLE. REMARKABLE IMPACT.
