• Gauge your event’s success

• Offer a framework for your program

• Allocate your resources more efficiently

• Provide clear direction to your team

HOW SHOULD WE THINK ABOUT PROGRAMS?

STEP 1: IDENTIFY YOUR GROUP’S GOALS

Ask yourself:

• What is your group’s mission?

• What are your short term goals?

• Internal/External?

• What other groups do you want to work with?

STEP 2: BRAINSTORM PROGRAMS

Be creative but keep your goals in mind:

• Make it fun

• Educational components?

• Unique campus events?

• Don’t always think about high attendance

STEP 3: PICK A PROGRAM THAT IS GOAL-ORIENTED

Double check! It’s not redundant, it’s strategic!

• Does the program further your club’s goals?

• What are the program goals?

• What does success look like?

• Is it fun?

STEP 4: DELEGATE RESPONSIBILITY

Leverage your group’s skills:

• The Jewish mom/dad (manager)

• The socialite (outreach)

• The marketing major (promotion)

• The event planner (logistics)

• The web guru (social media)

STEP 5: MAKE A TIMELINE

If you plan it – they will come!

• Lay out a clear action plan with dates

• Stay organized and vigilant

• Check your campus calendar

STEP 6: HAVE YOUR EVENT!

Don’t worry – Be happy!

• Don’t stress

• Stay positive

• Have fun

Debrief the event:

• Did you meet your goals?

• Where did you succeed?

• Where did you fall short?

• Any take-aways?

STEP 7: INTERNAL FOLLOW-UP

Most difficult but most important!

• Thank you notes

• Invite/attend other group meetings

• One-on-One conversations
