Publication Launches ‘Good Works’ FeatureNow that all the excitement of the

annual Petaluma River Craft Beer Festival is dying down, it seems appropriate to remember that the proceeds from that event support local non-profits which means that 100 percent of the profits from this popular event go back into the community.

The Craft Beer Festival is another example of how the members of the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC), which co-hosts the event with the Petaluma Valley Rotary, are the poster people for “good works” in the community and for many the nation.

Consider for a minute how the Petaluma Valley Rotary, which not only co-sponsors the Beer Fest, but helps the local community in many other ways, including the recently completed construction of an outdoor

reading area at a local immersion elementary charter school one month before the beer fest. The Rotary’s Lend a Hand to Education program has given $186,000 in grants to Petaluma teachers to fund educational projects in grades K through 12. The club also hosts a special “Holiday Party” for about 35 children and their families involved in the Committee on the Shelterless (COTS) programs.

The club is just one example of the many other PACC members who produce “good works” throughout the area year in and year out.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), a PACC member, recently announced the first two recipients of its Better Together Resilient Com-munities grants, a program created to support local initiatives to build greater climate resilience throughout northern and central California.

GC Micro, another PACC member, is a firm supporter of programs that build communities and help people expand their horizons including working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Marin & Southern Sonoma Counties, and sponsoring the Annual Youth of the Year Scholarship Program. The Petaluma company also sponsors “Christmas Cheer,” a philanthropic program in Petaluma that delivers food and toys to over 700 needy families every holiday season.

PACC would like to publicly recognize its members in the pages of this publication for their “good works” with the launch of a regular column feature called appropriately enough “Good Works.” To be considered for the space simply tip us off to the good works performed by any member business with an e-mail to [email protected].

Craft Beer Industry Excellence Honor Goes to Local Brewing Company

The Sonoma County Harvest Fair honors PACC member Lagunitas Brewing Company with the 2017 Excellence in Craft Brewing Industry award during the annual Awards Night Gala and dinner held Oct. 1 at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts.

The 2017 Sonoma County Harvest Fair is Oct. 6-8 at the Sonoma County Event Center at the Fairgrounds.

Lagunitas is proud of facilitating growth while still being able to give

back to the communities that they can call home, as well as implementing green strategies in the brew process. The company also has the number one selling IPA in the country, according to Karen Hamilton, director of communications for the company.

“The Lagunitas Brewing Company is currently distributed in all 50 states and is now expanding globally. We’re thankful every day that the residents of Sonoma County are happy to keep us around,” Hamilton said.

Business EXPO Equals ConnectionFor almost three decades

the Petaluma Area Chamber of

Commerce (PACC) Business Expo

has encouraged thousands of people

to link up in a convivial atmosphere

that fosters good business.

This 28th annual Expo promises

to be no different from all the Expos

before it in that single special respect;

it’s the place where connections are

made.

This year, as in the past, about a

thousand people will stream though

the doors at the Petaluma Community

Center, 320 No. McDowell Blvd.,

when they open at 4 p.m. and are

then free to meet with, learn about

and see what new and established

area businesses have to offer. EXPO

goers can linger until the doors close

at 7 p.m. which also affords plenty

of time to sample the food offered

at 13 food booths featuring some of

Petaluma’s finest dining for all tastes.

The public contact is only part

of the connection equation. Local

businesses get to know one another

and that often makes for the symbiotic

partnerships and referrals that make

Petaluma a great community in which

to do business.

People come to the Expo for

different reasons, but they never fail

to come away from it with business

connections that can last a lifetime.

Some exhibitors at this year’s Expo

(and they are all listed with their

booth locations inside this special

pullout section) are Fishman Supply

Company, Redwood Credit Union

and Fit and Furry Pet Resort which

have been coming for years. Others

like Smart & Final, Rubio’s Coastal

Grill, and Max Muscle Nutrition are

new to EXPO.

What they all have in common

is Chamber membership which

guarantees them exhibition space at

the annual Expo, a limited valuable

commodity.

The Expo is a win-win situation

for all, so get to know the Petaluma

Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC)

by meeting some of its valuable

members at the EXPO.

EXPO—An Open Door on Area Business

It’s time to take advantage of the annual opportunity to connect with information, make new contacts, discover what’s new with old friends and enjoy some of the best food samples in town at the 28th annual Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) Business EXPO. The EXPO is open from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Petaluma Community Center, 320 N. McDowell Blvd.

Exhibitors and a map of the exhibition area are inside on page 7 for your convenience.

As always the Expo promises to be better than ever, and you know if you’ve attended before that they’ve all been great, as about 100 exhibitors representing a wide variety of area businesses and non-profits are there.

Chamber CEO Onita Pellegrini has characterized the event, which is open to the public, as a tremendous opportunity for the community to

connect with a cross-section of the business community.

Many exhibitors will be holding drawings and giving away prizes. The EXPO is also a good time for area business leaders to get to know one another and to see the benefits of a PACC membership in action, Pellegrini said.

Join PACC at the President’s Circle membership level and take advantage of an exhibit space at the annual Expo, a perk that more than pays for itself in public exposure, expanded business contacts, and community recognition.

The EXPO is a way for businesses to get up close and personal with consumers and with one another. Those are the kind of beneficial contacts everyone appreciates and remembers.

For chamber membership information or to learn more about the EXPO, call 762-2785.

EXPO Serves Up Local FlavorThe annual Business EXPO is

always a veritable business buffet offering up a taste of many types of area businesses including eateries, but this year it is especially flavorful with 13 food booths serving samples that feature everything from appe-tizers to dessert.

The food booths located around the hall offer goodies from Petaluma Coffee & Tea, Preferred Sonoma

Caterers, Mary’s Pizza Shack, Three Twins Ice Cream, Bert’s Desserts, Twin Oaks, Rooster Run Golf & Event Center, Whole Foods Market, Pongo’s Kitchen & Tap, Alfredo’s Italian, Don Pancho’s, and Rubio’s Coastal Grill.

Stop by your favorites or visit them all and taste what’s new and what’s notable in Petaluma kitchens. You will be glad you did.

6 October 2017 Petaluma BUSINESS – A publication of the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce

Thank you To our Generous sponsors!

Meet the President’s Circle at the EXPOThe EXPO is a great time to

consider the benefits of a Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) membership because the EXPO is an opportunity to see various mem-bership levels at work and in use.

PACC members find the EXPO a great way to increase their recogni-tion, visibility and opportunities. Many Chamber members find the President’s Circle membership tier an even better way to maximize their Chamber connections.

Note the sponsors of the EXPO are businesses at the Platinum and Gold membership level in the Chamber’s President’s Circle. That level of membership says that the Bank of Marin, Pure Energy Productions,

Sonoma Media Group, LLC, North Bay Biz and St. Joseph’s Health Petaluma Valley, Quality Printing Services, Clover Sonoma, Redwood Credit Union, Petaluma Health Care District, Sonoma Media Investments, Exchange Bank and Team Logic IT all consider their participation in the EXPO a valuable asset for extending their reach into the community.

The $5,000 cost of a Platinum and the $3500 cost of a Gold President’s Circle membership offers EXPO sponsorship recognition and prime EXPO booth space in Sponsor Alley. Platinum and Gold members get a half page ad in every issue of Petaluma Business for a year, and credit for annual dues up to $900.

They get special placement on the Chamber website, and in the annual Business Directory.

Platinum members are entitled to send one person a year ($800 value) through the Chamber’s highly regarded Leadership Petaluma program.

Pure Energy Productions will be on the stage at this year’s EXPO. Stop by and see what participation in the EXPO means to them in terms of a President’s Circle membership perk.

The silver, and bronze levels of President’s Circle membership also have value. All levels include a booth at the EXPO, credit for annual dues, and monthly ads in Petaluma

Business as well as other benefits.

For some members, the cost of the

Bronze level is only a little more than

a regular membership.

Becoming a President’s Circle Mem-

ber saves companies time. You can

set up your marketing plan to include

the sponsorship opportunities and

ad placements and get them all done

at one time, making it easier to track

your costs.

For more information about

the President’s Circle of Chamber

membership, call the Chamber now

at 762-2785 so your business can be

a star at the 2018 PACC Business

EXPO.

Dance the Night Away at the Petaluma Woman’s Club

Hep Cats, Slick Chicks, and GIs, don your vintage togs and get ready to swing, sway and boogie to the big band sounds of the 1940s on Nov. 10 at the Petaluma Woman’s Club (PWC) inaugural Historic USO Dance Party from 6 to 10:30 p.m.

The party is a re-creation of the USO Dances that were held in the historic clubhouse, at 518 B St., during the WWII era, complete with period refreshments, swing dance lessons and fantastic prize opportunities, all in keeping with the patriotic theme. World War II era attire and uniforms are encouraged.

On the eve of the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Petaluma, the

clubhouse will again pulse to the rhythms of big band sounds provided by the Swing Fever Dance Band, with Brian Gold and Denise Perrier. Swing dance teacher Bill Gabbert will demonstrate how to get in the groove. During the band breaks, The Steven’s Sisters Act will croon some close harmonies, LynAnn King will sing and the Liberty School singers will open the show.

Simple foods will harken back to the wartime atmosphere, and the bar will feature the Aviator cocktail in the Officers’ Lounge, along with non-alcoholic beverages served canteen style.

Hold on to your hats, caps and

kerchiefs for the drawing of unique raffle prizes that include: two tickets to the WWII Museum in New Orleans; a day of fun at Rosie the Riveter Museum in Richmond; a ride in a vintage airplane, and two memberships in the HueyVets EMU, which gives the winners exclusive seats for a ride in a military helicopter on a flyover at the Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11. Raffle prize tickets will be available at the event for $20 each, and in advance from PWC members.

All proceeds from this event go to the PWC Restoration Fund to maintain the historic clubhouse. For more information and tickets, visit www.petalumawomansclub.com.

Wine Bill Moves ForwardA bill, authored by Assembly

member Marc Levine, (D-Marin County, 10th Assembly District), that allows local wineries to donate wine to the California Wine Center and Museum on the Square in Downtown Santa Rosa advanced from the Senate with bipartisan support.

“The California Wine Center will provide opportunities for tourists to learn about our wine growing region,” Levine said. “I’m proud to help Santa Rosa and make sure visitors to the California Wine Center can learn about Sonoma County’s history and taste Sonoma’s wine.”

The California Wine Center will provide local wine and food pairings, tourism and concierge services for Sonoma County wineries, and educational exhibits that explore the history of California’s wine.

Thanks to Whole Foods Market, Friedman’s Home Improvement, Fishman Supply Co., Sonoma Raceway (Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) members), working with the Sonoma County Parks Foundation, the Fall Festival is more than just a pumpkin patch. It is a seasonal celebration of the beauty and history of this special park.

Food and desserts will be available from local vendors or bring a picnic. Festival admission is $5 for adults

and teens and $3 for children 12 and younger. Parking is $7.

Activities inside the Festival are free. Visitors to the park during the Festival can explore the “Nighttime Creatures Barn” full of native and exotic snakes, birds of prey, tide pool animals, and wildlife preserved by taxidermy; venture into the “Creepy Crawly Room,” where tarantulas and scorpions glow under black lights; take a hayride to a pumpkin patch; try farm activities like wool-carding and candle-dipping; enter the World-Record Pumpkin-Seed Spitting contest; join hands-on demonstrations in archery, astronomy and nature photography; compete in gunnysack races, find the way through a straw maze, and pet barnyard animals.

Ken Savano, Petaluma Police Chief and PACC Board mem-ber, gives his audience an insider’s perspective on Petaluma’s law enforcement at the PACC Quarterly Lunch Sept. 8 at the Rooster Run Golf and Event Center.
