How Animals Survive
Adaptation
A trait that makes an animal suited to its environment Ex: growing thicker fur in cold areas
Happens over a long period of time
Camouflage
Blending in with the environment to remain more hidden
Animals do this to stay hidden from predators
Also do this to stay hidden so they can catch their prey
Migration
To go from one place or another
Animals will do this to get out of the cold or if there is not a food source near them
Hibernation
Animals go into deep sleep during all or part of winter
Do this because food source is scarce
Defense
Many animals have adapted ways to defend themselves against other animals
This can include anything from a hard shell, to a skunk spraying something smelly to protect against predators
