According to the website Medals Per Capita, Denmark brought home one Olympic medal for every 378,400 inhabitants, the fifth best re- sult in the world and the best in Europe. Denmark ended its historic Olympics in grand style with the men’s handball team beating France to claim gold. Another gold medal was taken home by swimmer Pernille Blume; and the Danes claimed six silver and seven bronze medals. Midsummer celebra-tion at Mission Bay was a lot of fun and very well attended. The witch flew off to Bloksbjerg, Margit held a traditional “bål-tale” (bonfire speech), the midsummer song was sung to old and new tunes, and lots of “snobrød” (bread baked on sticks) was consumed.
