Welcome On behalf of the organising committee, we would like to warmly welcome you to Perth for the Science on the Swan Inaugural Conference 2015 on “Hot Topics in Life Course and Development.”

This conference showcases the very best of medical science and health research in Western Australia. It brings together all five of WA’s major Universities (The University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University and The University of Notre Dame) in partnership with the key teaching and research hospitals, the medical research institutes of WA and the WA Government through the Department of Health and the Office of Science.

This inaugural conference focuses on the influences of pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and the immediate postnatal period on later life health and disease. Conferences in subsequent years will focus on different areas of health and medical research.

This conference brings together an outstanding international faculty, leading researchers from across Australia and Western Australia’s top medical and health researchers. These links benefit not just the researchers, government and industry, but the wider community as we work towards solving major twenty-first century health issues.
