Odds and Ends

TERRA NOVA TESTING During the next two weeks the students will be taking the Terra Nova test. It is very important that the students eat breakfast on these days and be sure to arrive to school on time. Students who are absent or arrive late will be given the test at a later date. Testing dates are 3/7-3/9 and 3/14-3/16. TUITION ASSISTANCE - FACTS Mgmt will be processing the 2017/18 tuition assistance application for the Catholic Education Foundation, the Archdiocese of Louisville, School Choice Scholarships, and St. Athanasius. New this year, you MUST apply online. You can apply at www.ceflou.org. The completed application, along with a $25 fee, should be submitted on or before March 15, 2017.

Class Picture Day is Thursday, March 9th. Students will be in uniform. No dress passes are to be used. Order forms have been sent home with students. There are extra order forms available in the office. Pictures are 8 x 10 and are $10.

St. Athanasius Blood Drive, Sat., March 11, from 8 am – 1 pm, School Café. Students who recruit a donor will receive a small gift from the Red Cross and a free dress pass. PTO SPRING FUNDRAISER - Thanks to everyone for helping with the spring fundraiser. We collected $4,723 in sales plus $10 in donations. We will receive 50% of those sales from WFC. We had 74 students qualify for the

bounce house extended recess. We had 18 families that were entered into the drawing for the 3 $50 Academy Sports gift cards. Congratulations - we would like to congratulate Lilly W.- 7th gr. She has qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee! The Bee will be held on Friday, March 31.

Talent Show Try-outs will be held on Thurs., March 23rd, at 3:00 pm in the Music Room. Permission forms have been given out to the students. Forms must be returned to Mrs. Thompson no later than Tues, March 21st. The Talent show will take place at 1:00 pm, on Tues., April 18th in the Gym. A $1 donation for admission will go towards the Scholarship Fund. FREE DRESS DAY – Thurs., March 23rd, w/$1 donation to the Student Council Scholarship Fund. The theme for this dress down day is “your favorite sports” team.

FRY 2017 Attached at the end of the Buzz is the schedule for the 2017 Fish Fries for Lent. Parents please check the schedule to see worker and cake donation schedule. Students will receive a free dress pass for a cake brought in on their night to work. There will be a limit of 3 free dress passes per student for the entire Fish Fry.

Cafeteria News - The Cafeteria no longer sends notices home when a student’s lunch acct. is low. It is the responsibility of the parent(s) to keep track of their student’s balance. Checks and cash may still be sent to the Cafeteria through the students. Please try to keep your child’s lunch acct. up-to-date. Students are not allowed to call home to ask for lunch money. Per Archdiocesan policy, any student owing more than $13.25 on their lunch acct. must bring a lunch from home until their acct. is up-to-date. The cafeteria is not obligated to provide students with a lunch. The USDA is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Provider. GRANDPARENT LUNCHES All Lunches start at 12:10 pm – 12:40 pm.

EMBRACING ACCOUNTABILITY

Homework Hall Students who will be staying for Homework Hall must have a permission form on file. Help is available each Mon. – Thurs. afternoons until 3:30 pm. Homework Hall will be in the Library on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Wednesdays it will be in the Spanish Room. All students must be picked up by 3:30 pm from Homework Hall unless they are going to SAFE. The Art Room is open on Tues./Thurs. mornings. Ms. Blevins is available in the Spanish room on Weds. mornings. The Computer lab will be open on Tues/Weds. mornings from 7:10 – 7:40 a.m. and Weds/Thurs.after school until 3:30. Students staying after school for computer must have a permission note from a parent.

Altar Servers – Students in grades 4 – 8th who have had altar server training are strongly encouraged to sign up to serve masses.
