March 24, 2018 at American Airlines Center – The Hornets fended off a fourth quarter comeback from the Mavericks on Saturday night to win 102-98, improving their record to (33-41). The hornets were led by a monster performance from Dwight Howard as he put up 18 points, 23 rebounds, and two assists. Kemba Walker led both teams in scoring with 24 points. Jeremy Lamb started at shooting guard in place of Nicolas Batum and contributed 14 points, one assists and one steal. Mavericks’ rookie Dennis Smith. Jr. led the team in scoring with 21 points and also dished six assists. The victory secured a season split with the Mavericks. The teams will not meet again until 2019, when they meet on January 2 in the Queen City.

October 19, 2018 at Amway Center – The Hornets won their second game of the season with this 32-point win over the Magic. Their 32-point margin of victory is Charlotte’s largest of the season thus far (done twice). Kemba Walker led the way with 26 points and five assists, while rookie Miles Bridges added 15 points, eight boards, two assists and a block off the bench in his second career game. Terrence Ross led the Magic with 14 points while Aaron Gordon scored five points and corralled ten rebounds. Charlotte led by as many as 37 points in the fourth quarter.

THE BUZZ RARIFIED AIR: With Kemba Walker’s 60-point performance vs. Philadelphia on 11/18 he raised the bar of an already impressive list of the highest scoring performances in franchise history. Walker has recorded three of the top five scoring performances in franchise history in the last two seasons. The chart to the right shows the top five individual scoring performances in franchise history ON A ROLL Kemba Walker followed a historic 60-point performance against Philadelphia on 11/17 by dropping 43 points in his next appearance against the Celtics on 11/19. Walker is the first player in the NBA to score a combined 100 points over a two-game span since James Harden (12/20 – 12/22/17). This is the first time in his career Walker scored 40+ points in consecutive games.

ELITE COMPANY Walker’s 43 points against Boston (11/19) came after he scored 60 points against Philadelphia (11/17) in the game prior. His 24 points came on 7-14 shooting, including a career-high made seven three-point baskets on 11 attempts (prev: 5, done multiple times). Williams has connected on 560 shots from deep though his 4+ seasons in Charlotte, despite making just 353 baskets from deep in his previous 10 seasons in the league. SEEING DOUBLE In the 110-99 win over the Cavaliers on 12/19 Jeremy Lamb scored 18 points and brought down 12 rebounds while Marvin Williams added 18 points and 10 boards. This was the second time this season that the Hornets had two players record double-doubles in the same game (Walker, Zeller vs. NYK, 12/14). This was Lamb’s third double-double of the season, a career high number for the guard, and was Williams’ fourth of this year, which leads the team. COMEBACK KIDS In Charlotte’s win over the Cavaliers on 12/19, the Hornets overcame a 13-point deficit and completed their second-largest comeback win of the season (14 vs. MIL, 11/26). The Hornets are averaging 11.9 three-point field goals per game, good for seventh most in the NBA this season. SPACE AND PACE The Hornets are averaging 24.1 assists per game, tied for 16th in the league. Charlotte finished the 2017-18 season ranked 24th averaging 21.6 assists per game. Curry held the record for 9,491 days. CAREER THREE-POINTERS With 2 made three-pointers against the Phoenix Suns on 2/4, Kemba Walker became the franchise’s all-time leader for three-point field goals made with 930, passing Dell Curry who had 929 in his ten-years in Charlotte. Walker currently sits at 1,130 three-point field goals. This came days after Walker set a franchise record for three-pointers made in a game when he recorded 9 on 13 attempts at Atlanta on 1/31 CAREER FREE THROWS On 3/28, Kemba Walker recorded five made free throws on five attempts, bringing his career total to 2,003, setting a new franchise record for career free throws. His first made free throw of the night brought him to 1,999 breaking Gerald Wallace’s record of 1,998. Walker’s record currently sits at 2,179 career free throws.
