AIRLINE TICKET

Your flights have been booked through Creative Group, and your flight itinerary was emailed to you after your booking was confirmed. For your convenience, electronic tickets have been issued. A copy of your itinerary is also included in this packet. In most cases, the tickets booked reflect discounted fares and cannot be changed without incurring penalties. Please examine your ticket carefully, including arrival/departure dates, times, airline and name on the ticket for accuracy. If you discover any discrepancies, please call 847-850-5227, option 2 immediately and identify yourself as a 2017 Essendant Horizons traveler.

REQUIRED TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION

IMPORTANT: A valid passport is required for travel to Barcelona. The passport must remain valid until November 2017. Please check the expiration date of your passport at this time to ensure it will be valid for your trip dates. Also, if your married name does not match the name on your passport, please have your passport updated. The name on your passport must match the name on your airline tickets.

FREQUENT FLYER CREDIT

If you have provided frequent flyer information to Creative Group, it has already been noted in your record, wherever applicable. It is always advisable to confirm this information with the airline agent at check-in. A good rule for all frequent flyers is to keep the passenger receipt and boarding passes until you are confident that your account has been properly credited. This is especially important for those whose name on the frequent flyer membership card does not exactly match the name on their passport.

LUGGAGE IDENTIFICATION

Essendant Horizons luggage tags are enclosed. Please attach a tag to each bag before leaving home. This is important as the luggage tags will expedite handling at both the airport and the hotel, as well as signify to the bellman that gratuities for your luggage have been pre-paid. These same tags will be used to identify your luggage for departure, so please do not remove them. Please also place additional identification on the inside of each bag.

AIRPORT

You will be flying into and departing Barcelona–El Prat Airport (BCN) in Barcelona, Spain, which is approximately 20-30 minutes from Hotel Arts Barcelona.

Page 5: HORIZONS 2017 BARCELONA a world of wonders

LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE

Please be sure to check your bags all the way through to Barcelona-El Prat Airport, also known as Barcelona Airport (BCN). Please check the website of your operating airline for the most current policies. You will also want to allow extra room in your luggage for any souvenirs you may acquire during your trip.

If you are traveling with a companion, it is a good idea to cross-pack your luggage—pack complete outfits for both you and your travel companion in each suitcase. This way if for some reason a piece of luggage is delayed, you will each have a change of clothes.

CARRY-ON BAG

All carry-on baggage will be subject to search and is limited to one per person (plus purse or briefcase). No knives of any type or size or sharp objects will be allowed on airplanes (such as corkscrews, pointed nail files, tweezers, etc.). Any liquids brought in your carry-on must be in a 3 oz. (or smaller) bottle that is contained in a clear, one-quart, zip-top bag. For the most current carry-on restrictions, please visit www.tsa.gov. We suggest you pack eyeglasses, contact lens supplies, jewelry, camera, laptop, credit cards, medicines, photo ID, passport and a comfortable change of clothing in your carry-on bag. By doing this, you will be able to freshen up upon arrival at the hotel without having to wait for your luggage to be delivered to your room.

MEDICATION

If you are currently taking any medication, please carry a letter from your physician or your prescription bottle to eliminate problems should you need a refill.

WEATHER

The April temperature in Barcelona averages high in the low 60s F, lows in the low 50s F.

The year- round sunshine makes it possible to enjoy the city to the fullest. You can eat at open-air restaurants at any time of the year or enjoy a drink at one of its many sidewalk cafes, with the Mediterranean serving as a backdrop.

TIME

Barcelona is in the Central European Time Zone.

U.S. City U.S. Time Barcelona TimeLos Angeles 12:00 pm 9:00 pmDenver 12:00 pm 8:00 pmChicago 12:00 pm 7:00 pmNew York 12:00 pm 6:00 pm

CURRENCY

Spanish currency is the Euro. U.S. dollars are not accepted in the shops. We advise bringing credit cards and about two days’ worth of Euros. It is important to keep your different means of payment in separate locations on your person. Carry only the amount of money that you’ll use for incidentals that day. Spanish auto banks will enable anyone with a Visa-based card to withdraw cash from their account. Almost all Spanish ATM machines will charge between two and three Euros each time (+ the normal commission for obtaining Euros from a foreign bank.) Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in most shops and restaurants; however, many smaller restaurants still do not have credit card payment facilities. A minimum purchase amount may be required to use a credit card.

Some shops do not accept bills of 100 or 200 Euros (500 Euro bills should be broken down into smaller denominations at a bank as they are often not accepted at all.) In addition, taxis do not accept credit cards; be sure to inquire before entering a taxi. We recommend you contact your credit card company before you leave to inform them of your travel plans.

LANGUAGE

Spanish is spoken almost universally in Barcelona, but the Catalan language is also in use. English is widely spoken and understood in and around Barcelona, especially at Hotel Arts Barcelona.

ELECTRICITY

The electrical system is 220v throughout Spain with two-pin wall sockets. You will need an electricity plug adapter that will convert the standard three-pin socket into a two-pin socket and step the voltage down from 220v to the US standard 110v. Damage to the electrical appliance will occur if you attempt to use a 110v rated electrical appliance with a 220v supply.

NOTE: The Hotel Arts has adapters in the guest rooms.

Please check your flight itinerary carefully for your exact departure time/flight number as airlines sometimes make minor schedule changes after your ticket was issued. Your luggage should be checked through to your destination airport in Barcelona (BCN). The luggage claim checks you receive from the airline should indicate BCN. Be sure that you have a claim check for each piece of luggage and keep them in a safe place as they are the receipts for your luggage. After checking in, proceed to the designated departure gate area for your flight.
