Hood-Stayz, The Solution, Launched Locally The secret to a great invention is necessity. That is what Lisa Levari has heard many times throughout her life. It’s turned out, that is exactly the case with the invention of Hood-Stayz. A few years ago, Lisa was shoveling snow during a veritable blizzard. As she was shoveling, her hood kept falling down in front of her face blocking her vision. Frustrated after repeated attempts to posi- tion the edge so that she could actually see what she was doing, Lisa resolved to find a real solution. Lisa’s first thought was to sew a back section of her hood together to make it shorter but realized she would then have her face exposed. At that point, the Hood- Stayz idea was born! Lisa created one that evening and it turned out to be the perfect solution, as she discovered during Round 2 of shoveling. Since that time, Lisa has used Hood- Stayz in her other jackets and coats. However, circumstances being what they are, she only recently decided to bring her solution to the “floppy” edged hood to others. Hood-Stayz is now also Patent Pending. Lisa is happy to be the cause of a solu- tion to an issue that is not only annoying but is also downright dangerous in regards to obstructing a pedestrian’s vision while crossing a street or an outdoor worker’s vision while trying to do a job. Even more heartening, and humbling to Lisa, she was informed Hood-Stayz is also a wonderful solution for folks who are developmentally or physically chal- lenged and have difficulty keeping a hood from drooping down and blocking their vision while outdoors or even while indoors and trying to keep warm. “I hope everyone will find Hood-Stayz to be a solution to a little part of their life!”, said Lisa. People should bring documentation with them, such as photo identification, proof of address, income information, Social Security award letter, Families First card, Social Services benefit infor- mation concerning medicaid and food stamps. The SafeLink representative will screen people for eligibility. Documentation is a necessary part of the screening process. No appointments are necessary. Please walk-in. However, there could be some waiting time to speak with the SafeLink representative. Monterosso is an award- winning critic who has written for nation- al and regional publications, appeared nationally and authored the book, “Artisan Beers.” The SNJ Today weekend one-hour show will feature Monterosso as well as local and national guests who will help to deliver a host of information and insight about the world of brewing. The Upper Deerfield Township resi- dent has appeared on many local and national television and radio programs discussing craft beers and also appeared on BBC radio offering an American per- spective on the beverage.
