April 2015
From the President:
Dear Residents,On behalf of Mark Globokar, Dennis Marshall and myself, I want to thank you for your continued support of our efforts as you voted to retain our Director positions for 2015-2016. I also want to thank Nikki Sharan and Dan Kutchel for running as well and to let you know that both have agreed to become non-director officers of the Board in the capacity of Assistant Treasurer (Nikki) and Assistant Secretary (Dan). We thank them for their commitment to the betterment of our HOA and neighborhood. Additionally, the Board would like to recognize AlphaGraphics and Rob and Brenda Kammer (Waterford residents) for their continued support of the
production of our newsletters. Over the past 2+ years, Brenda has been invaluable in the layout, design, and production of our newsletters and we can’t thank her enough.
2015 brings several large-scale goals for the Board, including 1) upgrades to the lighting and landscaping at the entrances, 2) continue to address the Ash tree removal and replacement on the parkway and throughout the neighborhood, 3) numerous pool updates and upgrades, 4) resurfacing the tennis courts, 5) replacement of the playground, 6) sealing the parking lot, and 7) probably our biggest goal is to upgrade access to the clubhouse. If you have any questions about any of these projects or would like to speak to the Board directly, you can call, email, or attend a meeting. If attending a meeting, residents can speak with us from 8-8:30 pm. (see schedule below)
Finally, most questions the Board fields are answered in our newsletters or in our Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions or our Bylaws, all of which are on our website. When possible, please refer to those documents prior to reaching out to the Board.
Kind Regards,Jeff Swboni

2015 Annual MeetingThe 21st annual meeting of Waterford Crossing Homeowners’ Association was held on January 28th. About 35 people that braved the winter elements were in attendance at the Clubhouse.
As for the election, please join the Board in congratulating Jeff Swboni, Mark Globokar, and Dennis Marshall on their re-election to the 2015 Board for a two-year term.
During the meeting, updates were provided by the 2014 Board on financial, legal, landscaping, pool, clubhouse, emerald ash borer, social events, and other matters. The 2014 financial statements and 2015 budget were presented. Of special note were presentations by Sgt. Lee Colegrove of the Strongsville Police Department on crime and safety matters, and by Jennifer Milbrandt, Coordinator of Natural Resources for the City of Strongsville, on the condition and proposed removal and replacement of the ash trees on our parkway. Councilmen Duke Southworth and Matt Schonhut were present and answered questions about City issues for the members in attendance.
After the annual meeting, an organizational Board meeting was held and the following officers were installed for the 2015 year: President – Jeff Swboni; Vice President – Mark Globokar; Treasurer – Jim Criswell; Secretary – John Toth; and At-Large – Dennis Marshall.
Waterford Parkway Ash TreesAs outlined by Jennifer Milbrandt at our Annual Meeting in January, Waterford Parkway’s ash trees will continue to be cut down and replaced this spring. Weather depending, you should see trees on our parkway being removed and replaced quickly with a target date of May 15th for completion. Keep in mind that only sections of the parkway will be affected as to try and space out the overall impact of replacement. If you have any questions or concerns, please let the Board know.
Architectural ControlAll WCHOA members are governed by our Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions (DCR). If you wish to add a deck/patio, enlarge your home, or change your home’s exterior, you’ll need to submit the Architectural Review Form and your plans to the Board of Directors
for approval prior to commencing any work. The form is located in the Forms folder in the Documents tab on our website. Please be advised that the DCR does not permit the construction of fences or outbuildings. If you have any questions, please call or e-mail us.

Pond Aerators & Goose LightsAerators and anti-geese lights are scheduled to be returned to Waterford’s ponds in May. These lights have proved rather effective at discouraging the geese to reside near the ponds over the last two years. If at any time throughout the summer you notice aerators not working properly or the anti-geese lights not flashing at night, please call the hotline at 440-878-1747 or e-mail us at [email protected] and let us know.
2015 Pool Season, Pool Furniture and Repairs, and Parking Lot Sealing
The Pool will open Saturday, May 23rd during the Memorial Day weekend and will close after Labor Day weekend. The Board of Directors sent out a request for proposal (RFP) in early-March to obtain competitive bids for pool management. Two companies were identified as viable pool management company options, and the results of the RFP
will be reported in our next newsletter.
In advance of the pool opening, we will be purchasing more new chaise lounge and upright chairs as well as a few picnic tables to replace the worn out ones. Several repairs are underway for the pool itself, as we seek to restore underwater lighting, to replace the vacuum, and to repair the concrete deck. We will also have the parking lot re-sealed and striped in accordance with our maintenance schedule.
