GENERATIONS DAYCARE
The summer has been a little bit quieter for us. We have been enjoying the warm weather. Some of our fun days included making a Canada Day Flag for our window, and a cake with the flag made from strawberries and pudding to eat. We had a sensory day for our feet! we stepped in/on many things such as shredded pa-per, marbles, barley, syrup, mud, shaving cream, and paint! It was so much fun!! Miss Lorrie brought in her Bunnock bones for us to try out, we also had a saska-toon pancake breakfast outside the same day! We are grateful for such amazing staff that bring such diverse experiences and planning into our environment! We have continued into the third phase of the Alberta Curriculum Frame-work project with the Muttart Foundation and Mount Royal University. One of our long standing goals is to replace many commercialized, brightly colored toys with natural or real life materials. We have incorporated some wood items, jars with real food, hanged pots and pans from our fence for noise, tires and more. We would love to continue on with this transformation. Some items that we can use are corks, plastic or glass containers with lids, canning rings, lids of all shapes, colors and sizes, sheer fabric, old bed sheets, large utensils, strainers, funnels, shells, washed rocks, square bales, small tires, ABS pipe and fittings, old picture frames (no glass), and clothes pins. We are always grateful for all donations that we receive. We would like to thank all the wonderful anonymous donors and the great folks listed below. Tammy Ball & Family for the towels and other items. Susie Albers for the bubbles, dart board and dice. Sarah Kohlman for the stuffies and outside toys. Melanie Northey & Family for the bug nets, face cloths, and sand toys. The Wilson Family for the dolls and puzzles.
We appreciate the support of our community!
A BIG THANK YOU from Bashaw & District Chamber of Commerce For all the folks who came out and supported our
RAZZLE DAZZLE DAY EVENT! Thank you to all the Groups that helped by putting on the different events: Starting with the Bashaw Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast, Elks for organizing the Pa-rade, all that entered in the parade, Farmers Market, Show and Shine (and the driv-ers that brought them) our helpers at the Chamber BBQ, Artisan Show at Majestic Theatre, Kids Zone at the Credit Union, The Pie and Ice Cream at the Happy Gang and St Mary’s Church, Sports Events, Art show, the Dinner at Bashaw Valley Lodge and our partner the Canada 150th Centennial Committee. Thank you also to everyone who made donations toward the Fireworks... so the Day ended up with a Bang and Bright lights, we thank the Town of Bashaw for getting the ball rolling with their do-nation and street closures and the town staff that made it Happen… Next year we promise better weather! :) We have heard very good things!!! So we’ll be back again next year, same weekend!

Family Wellness
It’s the end of July and all the programs for BDSS are up and running and more entertaining than ever! We have eight summer students; Frankie Middleton, Amanda Schneider, Ethan Snowden, Travis Schulte, Justin Linn, Jaycee Dawbin, Grant Golinowski, and Emily Kohlman. Fortunately, with so many students we are able to run more programs than last year! Every Wednesday two summer students go down to the school park from 1:30- 3:00 to play a variety of games! Summer in the Park is open to anyone who would like to bless us with their presence! New to this year's list of programming is Summer in the Park 2.0. Every Wednesday night two students go to different locations (check Facebook or Instagram) to play games with Jr. High and Sr. High kids from 7:00-10:00. Both of these won-derful programs are free and only require you and a smiling face! (Summer in the Park 2.0 does have a waiver that needs to be signed by a guardian.) BDSS partners with the Library for every Thursday afternoon. From 1:30-3:00 two summer students will be down at the library for the Summer Reading Program! Come down to the library to make a superb craft, play
some awesome games, and read an interesting story! This again is another free program that only requires you and your smiling face. BDSS then partners with the Historical Society to have a program run at the Bashaw Cultural Centre (Tourist Booth). Every Friday from 1:30-3:00, two students will be down to have some old fashioned fun! Bring yourself a curious mind and of course a smile! Along with our weekly programs, we have students around town; at the Bashaw United Church, Bashaw Cultural Centre, Bashaw Museum, and of course BDSS! Most of the summer programs that we participate in are geared towards children, but no matter your age we will be happy to help you in any way we can! Have a great rest of your summer!!
Majestic Jams will not be held over the sum-mer. They will resume
September 3rd.
