Keep your house comfortable whatever the weather Did you know a cold-climate heat pump (CCHP) can shred your heating bill by half? A CCHP operates with nearly 400 percent efficiency at 47˚F or above and when temps drop to zero can sustain efficiency of about 200 percent. It delivers two to four units of heating energy for every one unit of energy consumed. That efficiency can provide up to 90 percent of your space heating needs! We’ve promoted the value of heat pumps for years because of their ability to capture and deliver more energy than they consume. A CCHP will have a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor Rating of 10 or greater. It delivers energy savings at almost the same level that only a more expensive geothermal heat pump could do. How it works Variable-speed inverter technology is what makes a CCHP so efficient. Inverters, or variable speed drives, cycle the compressor at different speeds depending on temperature and heating loads. By automatically adjusting the speed, the inverter eliminates energy losses from starting and stopping to maintain an even and comfortable temperature. It also reduces operating noise. Save with off-peak rates We’ll control your CCHP during occasional peak periods. In the winter, your back-up non-electric system will take over if you’re on a dual fuel rate. Or a heat storage system will fill in if you’re on a deferred load rate. During summer peak periods, we’ll cycle your CCHP on and off every 15 minutes if you’re on an off- peak rate. This ensures your home stays cool and comfortable but lets you save on cooling costs with a reduced rate. Add a rebate for even more savings Install a CCHP as part of an off-peak heating system and you may qualify for a rebate of up to $500 per ton. Minnesota customers may qualify for an energy efficiency rebate through the Conservation Improvement Program even if the unit is not part of an off-peak system. Limits and equipment ratings apply.
