A Message from Fr. Karl:

As we continue in the next month to prepare for the renewal of our Adoration Chapel, we hear a witness from someone who has experienced the gift and peace of Adoration…

Hello my name is Elizabeth McLenon, many of you may know me as the mom with 6 boys. I was asked to write about why I visit Jesus in the Adoration Chapel. For me, an easier question might be “Why do you breathe?” Over the years quiet, uninterrupted time with Jesus has become essential to me. And the busier my life gets, the more I need that time to tune in to the voice of the Lord. As you can imagine, life with 6 boys can be very loud! And busy. It’s easy to make excuses to not find the time for a Holy hour. There will always be some other thing to do, but we make time for the things we find important. How many of us would rearrange our schedules to have an hour with the President or a favorite musician? Yet we have someone greater in the chapel. We have the King of Kings! He waits for us and longs to speak to us. If time is truly hard to find, then pray for the grace to find the time. Our heavenly Father who is so good will help make the time for you. Perhaps you feel intimidated worrying about how to pray, that’s ok; all Jesus asks is “Could you not spend one hour with me?” Jesus doesn’t ask for our lengthy prayers or perfect litanies; He just asks for us to be with Him. In fact, His disciples who first did a Holy Hour fell asleep! I often just sit and bask in His grace, staring into the eyes of one I love. I think of that time like an adoring mother holding her new infant and just staring at his/her face, looking deeply into the eyes and drinking them in. That is how our Lord looks at us. He wants to hold us and drink us up! Allow the Lord to do that. Give Him one hour a week and He will transform your life.

First Reading, Genesis 2:18-24 (140B), In the first reading, God finds a suitable partner for man. The love between man and woman is a blessing from God. Second Reading, Hebrews 2:9-11, In the second reading, we hear that, by becoming human and suffering death, the Son of God became for a little while less than the angels. Because of this, He was able to bring people to glory. Gospel, Mark 10:2-16, In the Gospel, Jesus reasserts God’s intended plan that in marriage two people become one flesh. Thus they cannot be divided

The Year Of Mercy Begins December 8, 2015 – Are You Ready?

Our Blessed Mother is urging us to experience what it means not only to show mercy to others, but to embrace the merciful love God our Father longs to bestow on each of us. Join us at Holy Spirit as we journey through the ALL HEARTS A FIRE Parish Program that includes: The 33 Days to Morning Glory Retreat 10/28/15-12/9/15, The Consoling the Heart of Jesus Retreat 1/6/16 – 3/9/16,

and The Works of Wisdom & Mercy Group Study 6/1/16-8/3/16. Afternoon and evenings sessions will be available for each program. Join us as we prepare for the Year of Mercy designated by Pope Francis by journeying together through the 33 Days to Morning Glory Group Retreat based on the book by Fr. Michael Gaitley. Want to Grow in Holiness, But Too Busy? Can you spare 15 minutes a day, for 33 days? Groups at Holy Spirit are forming now for Consecration on De-cember 8, 2015. WEDNESDAY EVENINGS: OCT 28 –DEC 9- 7:00-8:30 pm downstairs in the MULTI PURPOSE ROOM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS: OCT 28 – DEC 9 - 1:00-2:30 pm, in the MARTHA & MARY ROOM To register or for more information contact Anne Kinskey [email protected] or sign up after Masses the weekend of October 3rd & 4th. If you are unable to find a time that works with your schedule, contact me and we will try to find a parish that has a retreat that does or coordinate a retreat group in home.

Congratulations to Anna

Finney and Tim Holtsman, who were married at Holy Spirit.
