- located in the inner city since 1991
- constructed between 1872-75 to house a technical school, now a listed building with a total floor area of 4023m²
- 2003-06 major alterations, incl. refurbishment and extension
- located in Bremen’s historical city centre, close to the Town Square, Bremen Roland and City Hall (World Heritage Site, 2004)
WHERE FACULTY OF ART AND DESIGN
Am Speicher XI 8, 28217 Bremen - relocated to Bremen’s former harbour precinct in 2003. The University extends across 214m of the city’s longest building (400m). Total floor area: 5795m²
- other users: businesses, agencies, service providers, hospitality /eateries, Harbour Museum
- built 1909 /10, this former warehouse is now a listed building
- 2002 / 2003 converted and refurbished to meet the needs of a modern university of the arts: (studios, workshops, academic facilities)
- situated in Bremen Überseestadt, a 288-hectare urban renewal project (Hamburg’s HafenCity covers just 155 hectares)
- relocation of the university in 2003 initiates a process of urban redevelopment

NORTHERN GERMAN ORGAN CENTRE - Bremen lies at the geographic centre of a rich heritage landscape - 200 organs, from Late Gothic to contemporary designs - The »home« of Arp Schnittger (1648-1719) - »the Stradivarius of organ building« and the most influential organ builder of the Baroque period
- University-led research and preservation initiative - »Norddeutschen Orgelzentrums Bremen« and the »Instituts für Orgel und Orgelbau« established at the University of the Arts Bremen
- Tasks and aims: Archival research, promotion of organ music, technical documentation and reconstruction, international organ competition (Musikfest Bremen) - the University now has its own organ for practice and teaching (2010)
