Chinese New Year

Chinese new year also known as the

spring festival is a Chinese

holiday celebrated at the turn of the

Chinese calendar.

The celebration begins with a

reunion dinner, followed by a

cleansing of homes of any ill fortune,

ready for red paper decoration to be

displayed as a

sign of good fortune.Celebrated late January - early

February.Diwali - Festival of Light

The festival of light celebrated

every year in autumn.

The festival signifi es the

spiritual victory of light over darkness. Homes are

lit with lanterns and candles;

families participate in prayers

as well as indulging in a large

feast and exchange of gifts. Rio Carnival

Considered the world’s biggest

carnival. The place where samba

schools come together to compete.

Each school portrays a different

theme and includes 6-8 fl oats as

well as 4,000 members per

group. The festivals last up to 5

days, fi nishing on fat Tuesday with

ash Wednesday to follow.
