What is I:COTURNING OLD INTO NEWA GOOD IDEA, WELL-THOUGHT-OUT!

The name I:CO stands for I collect. This system isas follows: We can all give back our discardedclothing, shoes or accessories such as belts orbags to the places we bought them.

Worldwide I:CO provides the infrastructure toensure that the valuable raw materials from theseold textiles enter a closed loop production cycleand remain there. From collection to recycling,

consumer goods are recycled and put to a newuse. In this way every consumer and everyparticipating company is actively contributing toclimate protection.

How does I:Co worksHERES HOW WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR MANKIND AND THEENVIRONMENT

The I:CO system is simple yet ingenious. Numerous commercialpartners are involved, including global players such as Esprit, C & A,Adler and Reno. Their customers deposit used textiles with them, and thus create space for new things.

In exchange, customers receive a voucher with which they canimmediately get money off a new purchase.

Mens, womens and childrens clothing, leather clothing and furs, underwear and socks, belts and bags, bed, table and householdlinen and cushions are all collected in the designated I:CO boxesand at I:CO Counters.

I:CO arranges their environmentally-friendly removal, sorting andreuse. This creates the basis for the permanent, 100 % reuse of

resources. The aim is to integrate all collected textiles and shoes into a

recycling process by 2020, while completely eliminating wasteproducts.

I:CO missionBeing less bad is not BEING GOODThe challenge?

    Create Sustainably

    Develop a clear conscience amongpeople.

I:CO system: as a closed loop product cyclefor textiles and shoes, within which raw

materials can circulate infinitely. It is a cyclewithin which a product can repeatedly beturned into a new product.

    The I:CO formula: Rewear andUpcycling?

The solution for achieving this closed loop productcycle is REWEAR & UPCYCLING.

REWEAR means that, firstly, what is still wearable isworn again. This ensures that the energy whichonce went into making the product is respectedand optimally used.

UPCYCLING means that a discarded textile or shoeis used to create a new product of equal or better

quality. Items that can no longer be worn go intoan UPCYCLING process and are thus retained inthe loopso that a pair of jeans today can beturned into a new pair of jeans in the future.

    What are the other possibleuses?

Recycling: Old textiles that are not suitable forproducing new clothes may be convertedinto recycled fibers and non-woven fabric. These are then used for insulation material inareas such as automobile manufacturing.

Reuse: Textiles that can no longer be worn

are converted into special products. Forinstance, single-color T-shirts and sweatshirtsare turned into cleaning cloths.

I:CO PhilosophyTAKE RESPONSIBILITYECOLOGICAL CONCEPT MEETS CORPORATE SOCIALRESPONSIBILITY

Multiplying strengthsAll players involved in I:CO are making acontribution to the environment and our society.

Those who join in help to prevent millions of tons ofvaluable raw material from being simply tossed inthe garbage. For every returned kilogram ofclothing, linen or shoes, the I:CO partnercompanies also donate two eurocents to theCharityStar fund. Once 1,000 euros has beenreached, this sum is paid out to a charitableproject. Implementing good ideas ourselves, andhelping to get other good ideas movingthat isthe I:CO philosophy.

The result: Sustainableconsumption for a better world

I:CO is implementing the formula together withpartners companies who are traders, industrialists, recycling specialists and charitable organisations.First and foremost, these partnerships make onething possible: You can go shopping with pleasureand without a bad consciencebecause yourconsumption is part of a natural process in whichyour used textiles are permanently reused to makenew products.

Their mission is to collect your used shoes andtextiles, logistically bring them together, analyzethem, and determine their next best use.
