Simple Machine
The history of machines dates back thousands of
years
the lever is believed to be the first simple machine
that was utilized by humans
It makes the work simpler and with less effort
Machines can transform natural energy, such as
wind and falling water, into work and electricity Industrial Revolutions elsewhere brought about the
invention of even more complex machines

principle of the lever was often utilized
through the rotary motion of the wheel and
axle
During the Middle Ages, attacking armies
used a similar device for lifting soldiers over
fortress walls
crow bar and claw of the hammer
balance scales and keys of the piano
simple machine consisting of a rigid bar that
rotates about a fixed point, called a fulcrum

History of Pulley
simple machine used to lift objects.
consists of a grooved wheel or disk within a
housing, and a rope or cable threaded around the
disk
reduce the effort to lift an object by increasing
the distance over which the effort is applied
early peoples lifted heavy objects by throwingvines or other crude ropes over tree limbs

History of Inclined Plane
consisting of a ramp or a similar wedge-shaped
device, that makes doing a given amount of work
easier
Egyptians created earthen ramps to raise huge
blocks of stone during the construction of the
pyramids, from about 2700 BC to 1000 BC
Egyptians used a lubricant, probably milk, toreduce the sliding friction and thus increase the
efficiency of the inclined planes.

History of Wheel and Axle
consisting of a circular objectthe wheelwitha shaftthe axlerunning through and attachedto the center of the wheel
Wheels and axles have been used for centuriesto magnify force
it made transportation much easier inMesopotamia as early as 3500 BC.
Windmills and waterwheels (both forms ofwheel and axle) were combined with gearing tomake mills for grinding grain
