HILTON Hotel:

•Founder name was Conrad Hilton

•Started a hotel with the Hilton name in 1925 in Texas

•In 1943 purchased Roosevelt Hotels in New York, and became First coast-to-coast group in US.•In 1947 Hilton becomes First to install television in guest rooms.

•1959 Hilton become pioneers in Airport hotel concept by opening 380 rooms San Francisco airport hotel.

HYATT HOTEL

•Hyatt was founded by JAY PRITZKER on 27 september1957.

•First Hyatt was a house motel adjacent to Los Angeles Int. Airport.

•In 1969 Hyatt opened first overseas hotel in HONGKONG named Hyatt regency

•In 1980 Grand Hyatt & Park Hyatt brands were introduced.

•Now Hyatt is know all around the world for its luxury hotels and resorts.

SHERATON HOTEL

•Founded in 1937 by Ernest Henderson & Robert Moore, acquired their first hotel in Springfield.

•The name “SHERATON” given to this chain was the name of another early hotel this pair had acquired.

•In1947 Sheraton corporation becomes first hotel chain to be listed on New York Stock Exchange.

•1949 purchased two Canadian hotel chains and expands Internationally.

•In 1958 company Launches “RESERVATRON” the industry’s first automatic electronic reservation system.

While the American chains were the first to venture abroad, European hotel chains eventually followed suit. At first the movement toward internationalization was slow, but it accelerated in the late 1980s when home markets stagnated. European chain adopted many U.S hotels management techniques, often adding a European flavor, and then re-exporting the concept to the United States.

ACCORPaul Dubrale and Gerard Pelisson built their first American style

motel on a French road side in 1965, from that modest beginning, rooms, sales and profits rose steadily as the company expended. By 1992, ACCOR operated hotels in more countries in many other

hotel chains.

Paul Dubrale and Gerard Pelisson built their first American style motel on a French road side in 1965, from that modest beginning, rooms, sales and profits rose steadily as the company expended. By 1992, ACCOR operated hotels in more countries in many other hotel chains.

CHAINS OF ACCOR GROUP The Mercure hotel chain was acquired by Dubrale and

Pellison in 1975 and the sofitel chain in 1980. Originally known as Novotel the accor name was taken with the merger of Novotel and Jacques borel international in 1983.

Formule 1 was created in 1985, Motel 6 was acquired in 1990, and a merger with Pullman was completed in 1992.

Sofitel hotels has been to promote a strong food and beverage operations in order to attract local patrons and to compensate for the lack of name recognition in the United State. In some hotels, food and beverage sales generated as much as half of gross revenues.

Accor is the largest hotel company (with respect to the number of room managed) on the European continent and fifth largest in the world. It is continuing to grow internationally stressing continued European Expansion
