I added an extension, which gave me a lovely big sitting room/dining room, I had all of the windows and doors replaced, the wiring was updated and elements such as the kitchen and bathrooms were stylishly refurbished. In fact, you name it, it was done; I even had my very own bar built out in the garden, which is a great entertaining space.” “The ‘new’ dining/sitting room has doors that open onto the garden, so when the weather is warm they can be opened up and I can really bring the outside in. The garden itself is not huge so very easy to maintain, and I’ve had a nice patio area and some decking added so there’s lots of space for sitting, relaxing and alfresco entertaining. It’s a very peaceful garden and totally private, and because it’s a very manageable size I have more time to enjoy it.” “My favourite room would probably have to be the bar out in the garden. It’s a lovely place to get together with family and friends, and I like the sense of separation between it and the main house, and because it has underfloor heating it can be used all year round.” “Hilltop Cottage is a real hidden gem; it feels off the beaten track and nicely removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I can come home, shut the gate and feel totally away from it all, but I have the peace of mind of knowing that everything I need is just a stone’s throw away.” “When the renovations were carried out on the main house, I also converted the old four-car garage into a two-bed self-contained annexe.” “The house is just lovely, but it’s the setting that I think I’ll miss most,” says the owner. “It’s so peaceful here and the outlook is so leafy and green in every direction that it’s often hard to believe I’m so close to such a good array of well-served towns and villages.”*

HILLPOOL

Hillpool is a highly sought after hamlet lying less than 2 miles to the North of Chaddesley Corbett within the Wyre Forest District of North Worcestershire. Both Hagley and Belbroughton are both approximately 4 miles. All three villages provide for a wide range of local amenities including village shops, schooling, churches, sporting facilities and local hostelries; including a number of popular Gastro pubs. The area is crisscrossed with footpaths for enabling full enjoyment of the surrounding countryside from the curtilage of the property.

Birmingham is a city of international importance, both commercially and culturally, as defined by its magnificent Library, Town Hall and Symphony Hall; the home of The Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The County Town and Cathedral City of Worcester, lying on the banks of The River Severn, is some 16 miles South West providing for high street and boutique shopping, and characterised by one of England’s great Cathedrals, its Racecourse, County Cricket Ground, Premiership Rugby Club, Racecourse and University.

The M5 motorway (accessed via J4 of The M5 at Lydiate Ash, J3 of the M5 at Halesowen or J1 of the M42 at Lickey End) provides for ready access to the North and South West, Greater Birmingham and the surrounding industrial and commercial areas as well as Cheltenham and its Racecourse (38 miles), Gloucester (41 miles) and Bristol (75 miles). The M42 also offers access to Birmingham International Airport (23 miles) and the North East. Road travel to London (119) is best via the M40 or M6/M1, both accessible from the M42. London Heathrow Airport is 109 miles.

The electrified “Cross City” line from Bromsgrove offers fast access to central Birmingham for onward travelling around the UK and to London. The newly opened Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station, situated to the east of Worcester, off Junction 7 of the M5, is also intended to increase the capacity to London as well as reduced journey times. This will have a significant impact on Worcestershire’s accessibility to the Capital and other regional centres. The railway network locally may also be accessed at Kidderminster, next to the glorious Severn Valley Railway, and at Blakedown which is under 3 miles away.

If education is a priority then Worcestershire is blessed with an enviable mix of schooling at all levels, including a variety of independent establishments, allowing parents to select the right environment for their children’s needs. These include Bromsgrove School (7 miles), Malvern College (24 miles), The Kings Schools and Royal Grammar School at Worcester (16 miles), Heathfield School at Wolverley (6 miles) The King Edwards Schools in Birmingham and, more locally, Winterfold House School at Chaddesley Corbett (3 miles).

For days out and recreation, Hillpool is well placed for ready access to the North Cotswolds and Broadway (32 miles), as well as Stratford-upon-Avon (27 miles), Great Malvern (24 miles) and The Malvern Hills, and Ludlow (27). The West coast of Wales, at Aberdovey, is 95 miles.
