Join us to learn the key principles of the protective behaviours program taught at Hillarys PS. We can work together to help our children to recognise unsafe situations and be proactive and confident in their response. Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Thank you to all who joined us for the Mother’s Day Tea, and to Janene Heron for her fantastic bake off prior to the event.

We thank you for the positive feedback.

Many requests were made for the fabulous scone recipe: --

Lemonade Scone recipe

Ingredients: 3 cups SR Flour 1 cup Cream (I used whipping)

1 cup lemonade

Method: Preheat oven to 220c (200c if fan forced)

Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix lightly using a knife

Scrape mix onto a floured surface and knead lightly

Shape dough to about 1-inch thickness then using a round cutter cut out scones

Place on a hot baking sheet covered in baking paper

Bake for 10-15 minutes

Serve with jam and cream

Marathon Club- Wednesdays anytime from 8.00-8.30am

We had a fantastic turnout for our first Marathon Club session last Wednesday. With students from Kindy to Year 6, younger siblings and

parents, we had over 80 people eagerly working towards their marathon awards. Remember to collect your recording

card from the table before you start and hand it back at

the end. Everyone is welcome so we look forward to seeing you this week.

Power Pack fitness sessions Sessions for students from Year 3-6 are held Tuesday 3.00-3.30pm and Friday 7.55-

8.30am. Please arrive at the correct start time for the group warm up.

SHOWCASE - 2019

This year the Hillarys Talent Showcase will be held in Week 10, on Thursday 4th July.

The categories will be…

Vocal solo

Vocal group

Instrumental solo

Instrumental group

Drama/comedy act Auditions will start in week 6 and will be held in the music room at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Children will not be able to audition in more than 1 group. They can however audition as a soloist and in a group. Please mention to your children that they will need to practise in their own time and their item should be of a reasonably high standard. They will only have 1 chance to audition. Students may be called back for a semi-final.

CELEBRATING FAMILIES

The month of May provides us with the opportunity to recognise and celebrate our families. National Families Week is celebrated from 15 – 21 May.

In Before and After School Care, children will be exploring the theme for National Families

Week 2019 – Stronger Families, Stronger Commmunities. We have very exciting activities planned for the children this coming Wednesday, 15th May

and next week Tuesday and Wednesday, 21st and 22nd May. If your child is sport orientated, then this is a must for them! Just a kindly reminder that your child must be registered

and booked in for the session to be able to partake in the activities. If you as parent would like to know more about what is happening, please feel free to come and speak to us

at the service. Not yet registered? Don’t worry, it is never too late. Plus, it is free to register.

To attend our care, you must register your child. You can register an account with us at

www.campaustralia.com.au/account/login. Once registered, it is easy to make bookings and manage your booking options online via our parent portal. Remember, you may be entitled to receive the Australian Government Child Care Subsidy to

Pupil Free Day On the 31st May it is Pupil Free day. Camp Australia will be open on that day from 7am to 6pm. In order to make use of our service, please make sure that your child is registered and

booked in.
