ECONOMIC STRUCTURE Hessen’s 100 largest companies
6
The sector analysis demonstrates a clear emphasis on the industry sector in which 35 percent of the Hessian workforce is employed. Out of the five largest employers four are logistic companies: Lufthansa, Deutsche Bahn, Fraport and Deutsche Post. Hessen‘s known financial services industry is the state’s third largest sector with 15 percent of all jobs listed in the ranking.
Nearly half a million people (489,000) work for the 100 largest companies which compromise approximately 15 percent of all employees in Hessen. Lufthansa German Airlines alone employs 37,400 people, clearly making it the company with the largest staff in Hessen. The ranking shows that the ten biggest enterprises already make up 200,000 jobs.
