To celebrate this history, four of Seguin’s historical sites will be open on the first Saturday of the month from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for Heritage Saturdays. The sites, Sebastopol House, Heritage Village, the Guadalupe County Heritage Museum and the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center, are partnering together to promote each other and set uniform hours for visitors.

Heritage Village - 415 S River St. (approximately 30 minute tour)

Operated by the Seguin Conservation Society, Heritage Village features five of the first buildings in Seguin and Guadalupe County. The site is home to the First Church and Bell Tower which was the first Church in Texas. Los Nogales Museum is an adobe German settler home filled with artifacts and memorabilia from across Seguin’s generations. The Dietz Doll House built in 1910 was constructed by Louis Dietz for his adopted five-year old daughter who arrived in Seguin on an orphan train. The two-room Campbell-Hoermann Log Cabin once housed 24 family members and displays what life was like for many of the first settlers in Seguin.

Pecan Museum at The Texas Agriculture Education and

(approximately 30 minute tour)The Pecan Museum displays a vast amount of information and pieces of the industry’s history and samples of the different variety of pecans that were developed in Seguin by the people of Guadalupe County and statewide as well, including one variety called ‘Seguin.’ The museum also has samples of equipment, antique equipment and samples that shows how the industry grew. After the tour, take your photo with the World’s Largest Pecan.

The Heritage Museum is located in the former Red and White Grocery Store in historic downtown Seguin. Opening in April 1998, the museum has a rotating display of artifacts from Seguin and Guadalupe County. See arrowheads found along the Guadalupe River, golf clubs belonging to PGA golfer W. A. “Lefty” Stackhouse and the photo collection from Leon Studios.

Sebastopol House Historic Site - 830-379-4833, 704 Zorn St. (approximately 1 hour tour)

The Sebastopol House is a Greek revival mansion and is one of the country’s best preserved structures of the 19th century experimentation with concrete construction. The exhibits show the skills of the workers that built this building years before the Civil War and it also shows rare collectable pottery from the Wilson Pottery Foundation – the first freed slave business in Texas. Tours begin every hour on the hour.
