    Dear Friends of little children,

February was a month for "catching our breath" and gearing for the Easter andsummer programmes. Plans are for a "Revival" at Headowbrook during the monthof May with Wesley Stepp of Revival Fires and then full steam ahead for summercamps. Butthere is still room for morel Please write quickly if you can possibly comeand help us.

It's a "supper in the yard", a "work and fun" dayat Sun Mountain, or a very special occasion like the Sunday we all drove tovisit the Broadleaf Church some 65 miles into the mountains. This is a congregation that has been brought back to life through the efforts of the Meadow-brook church. It was a lovely day. The church was full and the meeting sweet. Our little boys sang a "special" and won the hearts of all.

    CHRISTIAN CHILDRENS' CLINIC

For over 8 years the JamaicaChristian Boys' Home hassponsored a Medical Clinic for children of a very needysection of this heavily populated city of Kingston.

And for these years, over 6000 children have enrolledin the clinic because of serious need of medical helphelp that has been given to them free of charge.

Volunteer professional medical people, both Doctorsand Nurses have staffed the clinic. Nurse In charge, is Mrs.Patsy Alberga.

IPatsy found Christ in 1959 and has dedicated a big

part of her Christian life to these children. She returnsto them one day a week for a childrens' Bible Class.

Today we look back and see a long record of wonderfu 1opportunities for bringing the example of Jesus to littleones in need. And we have also known the joy of seeingthat this good example has brought people to repentanceand acceptance of the Gospel and its plan of salvation.

BECAUSE JESUS CARED, BECAUSE OUR FRIENDSCARED, THIS CLINIC FOUND ITS BEING.

  • THE HOME

The Jamaica Christian Boys' Home Ltd. was eatablishedin 1954.

Today 39 boys have found love and care as an answerto an urgent desperate need in their lives. Some of thesehave grown up and gone. Some have returned to parentsafter years or months of care when it was so desperatelyneeded.

At present 15 boys are In the Home.

    'We're New"

The usual look of bewilderment still lingers on thefaces of two new little ones. They seem to say, "We'renew! Help us!"

They had just entered the Home. Two precious little brothers, aged one and two ...

deserted by motheV and left with a father unable to carefor them. In a few weeks their bodies so covered withsores and racked with hunger, made a great change. Nowtheirheartsare secure among those who love them.

At the same time, healthy, vibrant, enthusiastic, wonderful Christian teen-age is the blessing of our big boys,Tony, Bobby, and Eddie.

THIS IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE FRIENDS LIKEYOU WHO CAREI

Jim and Carol HergetManaging DirectorsGuy WhitleyAda Walker, co-workers.

    CHRISTIAN DAY SCHOOLS

At 10:30 a.m. "Break Time," you can see the marvellousmix-up of races among a hundred and more boys and girlsas they pour happily out of Oxford Prep. School.

It's typical of Jamaica ... a land of contrasts from thepredominant black people to our brothers and sisters ofChina, India, England, Germany, Spain, and other landsacross the sea.

Christian Education is challenging in Jamaica, a country where foreign teachers are welcome and where schoolsare sorely needed.

The double floored school building is at the southsideof the Home property. Across the playfield is the Home'sbeautiful "Memorial Chapel". Here, each morning, children gain a keen awareness of the things of God, andencouragement for church attendance brings salvation tomany children and their parents.

But under the Boys' Home influence Is another Christian Day School at Mountain View ... a vibrant littleschool teeming with kids in the same needy area with theClinic, in like manner it sheds Its light into the souls ofJamaica's precious children.

    AT HOC IN JAMAICA

    Dear Friends,

What an exciting d^! Our Jamaica Defence Fcfrce, otherwise kncwnas "the anry" dedicated a work day fop the Hone. Fca? severaldays prior to the big day, professionals in 13ie Force spent manyhours at the Hone naJcing plans, securing materials and assigninge:q>erienced soldiers to the jcbs. On cur National Labcur Day at7:15 a.m. sane sixty soldiers arrived in trucks, landrovers andJeeps bearing ladders, tools and a Canteen of food. Ihe day wasspent painting our 2 steady main building outside, painting theFellowship Hall inside and out, and the Chapel; redoing theelectrical wiring on our school building and Hill, hawling awayold tree stun^, cleaned and painted the work shcp area, built aShuffle Board for the school, painted school rocans, repairedpluntoing in several places and dqg up gardens, Jim wrote that itwas a wcncjerful day and he added, "the boys behaved beautifullyand were a good help."

    IN THE U.S.A.

I say "Jim wrote" because this finds me almost ready to return toJanaica frcm Brownstown, Ind. Elvin and Betty Gray had asked meto be their missioiary this year. It is a new ministry for themand we can see showers of blessings all around. The cdiurch isgrowing and we feel sure that God truly led them here. Of course,I have had a thrilling experience in talking about Jamaica. Myonly sadness is in the quiet of the night vtfien iry thou^ts travelall about me to YOU whan I cannot see. Sanetimes I wish I couldtelephone you and have a good chat but our stewardship won^t alcw.

It has been many neny years since we have seen this part of theU.S.A. and iry heart has liirilled over the broad green fields ofKentucky and the strawberry patches of Indiana. How wonderfullyGod has blessed this America of oursI Please take care of itthrough prayo? and conraittroent to our Christian ideals.

In Florida it was ny privilege to visit the Largo church and mateplans for the big simmer visit of segue thirty youth and adultsv^o are coning to help at Sun Mountain. Can^) plans were also finalized with Lincoln Christian College youth, and for a revival atMeada7brodk vdiich is to begin June 8th three days after ny apetumto Jamaica. I saw Tony and had the great privilege of visitingJohnson Bible College. Friends have been helpful all the way.

Jim's Icng wcrxlerful letters tell me that QDd is watchijig over thewcK'k there and our precious little family. • Dear Friends - at Christmas time^

The Evergreen growth of God's wonderful world is used sofittingly with the Christmas message. For truly the storyof this Blessed Gift of Hope to a confused and frustratedworld is one that remains evergreen - ever alive and evermeaningful.

And as the years roll on we grow older; we put away thered wagons and slates and replace them with football bootsand heavy book bags. We see the world through new eyes andhopefully wiser ones. And with the getting of new thingswe find the evergreen Story taking on more meaning, morehelpfulness in those moments of groping for peace andunderstanding.

We wish you a blessed Christmas and a better understandingof this evemew message of Christ. In this may yoU findserenity and hope that will keep you through anothfet* year.
