After a few initial gremlins (the printer’s system corrupted the file), all is now well with the Tayside book. All orders have been passed to the printer. The book ended up as 984 pages of information for £24 including postage – and you can still buy a copy via

http://www.heretotherepublishing.com/scotland or http://www.dundeebuses.info/book/book.htm

A few bugs crept into the book. There will also be a regularly-updated list of changes since production (and any subsequently-reported bugs!), although not an Update in

our traditional style, which can be accessed via the second link above.

The book itself features text as close to the printed leaflet size as we can, and we’d welcome all feedback on the print size in this one – and whether it is worth the extra

bulk and pages for greater clarity.

Friday 11th October 2014

Our Dundee-area timetable site, www.dundeebuses.info has been revamped over

the past week. The site is also a companion to our recent timetable book, covering all

of Tayside.

It was designed to be simple schedules and fares and maps only, no JavaScript, no

pop-ups, no entering journey details – just simple information, whenever you needed

it. This started for Dundee Technology Park when I began working there in October

2002. Seven years later we expanded to the entire city, and now in October 2014,

covering everything public in Angus, Dundee City, and Perth & Kinross council areas.

The site went live today, so I’d appreciate any feedback, bugs, wrong times etc. via

the usual methods.

Our Archive page no longer has the timetables before the current issues, as sometimes

the older ones would show up on an online search. Therefore, to combat this, the old

stuff is going to a separate DropBox directory, which doesn’t get indexed by Google –

meaning we can keep everything and everyone happy.

Feel free to drop me a message if you want the link to the old stuff.

Friday 26th September 2014

Happy Friday!

We’ve had a total flurry of orders this week – for which I say thanks!

Now, good news for our customers in the South East – we’re coming back to LOTS Autumn Transport Spectacular! Saturday 25th October 2014, 10.00 – 15.30, and £3 entry. The event is being held at the RAF Museum in Collindale, London. Why not combine it with a family visit for the rest of the pack, while you browse 60 stalls

including ours! Full directions can be had via www.lots.org.uk then click on Autumn

Transport Spectacular. Our stall will be on the right as you come in, and in the back tables. Our location is

marked (the shaded table) below.

Our printing partner have been expanding to cope with demand, including a new venture called The Great British Book Shop. To ensure everyone gets served on time,

the turnaround times have been widened by a few days. This does not mean the service is now slower – in many cases you will have your books much sooner! It’s just

to be more realistic – the printing version of adding more running time I guess. The below are the new printing turn-around times, and please add a further 3-4 days from this time for postage by Royal Mail or DPD couriers. If you’ve not had your books within 21 calendar days (Strathtay book 28 days as it’s hardback) from the date of our

acknowledgement, please remind me!

Mono Paperback = 7-10 working days for any quantity

Mono Hardback = 10-15 working days for any quantity

Colour Paperback = 7-10 working days for 1-24 copies, 10-15 working days for 25 copies

Colour Hardback = 10-15 working days for any quantity

Steven Knight books are unchanged at 2-3 working days.

Steven Knight has another new book ready this week – Stagecoach Oxford.

Our latest Fleet Handbook covers the Stagecoach Oxfordshire fleet, which has operations across Oxfordshire from depots at Oxford, Witney and Banbury. Besides a fleet of Electric Hybrid double decks there is also a sizeable fleet of 'Gold'-specification Scania/Enviro 400s along with a dedicated fleet of 26 Van Hool Astromega coaches for

the successful Oxford tube operation. This is the second of our Fleet Handbooks to feature a thicker and more robust cover, which is printed on 350gsm gloss card but without the added lamination. This will now

be the standard specification for all our book range. A6 Portrait size 28 pages full colour plus 4 page Allocation

Friday 19th September 2014

Happy Friday!

Our Tayside Area (Angus, Dundee City, Perth & Kinross council areas) has gone off to print. A massive 972 pages, as we’ve experimentally increased the size of the print. So

instead of reducing the text to fit the paper, we’ve done as much of the text as we can, at the size of the print in the timetable leaflet. As a result, this has to be printed on 80gsm paper. We had hoped this to be created on Enso Belle 70gsm paper, which would have weighed less. The reason we cannot is that there is a maximum 60mm (two and a half inches in old money) thickness per book. The paper, while lighter, is

bulkier, so we are unable to use for this title. We will keep this until the next timetable book we do. As it’s bigger than we’d expected, the price has been increased to £24.00,

still post-free.

In our other titles – Strathtay The Story So Far is the next on the list. Thanks everyone for your patience! After that, we have Surrey/East Berks, Fife, Passing Around Scotland (which should commence after the 23rd October 2014 CalMac timetable change), and Wilts & Swindon – in no particular order. We will then expect to have some London

titles late October/early November time, and everything else not listed will be thereafter.

Some of our customers may have received a partially – printed copy of our recent Northumberland title. This was as a result of three graphics pages not printing

properly, despite being fine in the proof. Our printer has apologised, and is happy to replace any copies free of charge to you and us. So, if you’ve had a copy which has

these pages damaged in the Tickets section, drop us a line or give us a ring with your details. We will then get a free replacement sent out to you.

We had a slight backlog of orders recently while our printer trained staff on their new presses. We can confirm all are now sent out.

Steven Knight Media news – Norfolk Green September 204 edition has been released, and is now on sale for £3.95 + £1.00 P&P. The Stagecoach North East book has been

postponed until the New Year.

Latest News from Here to There So, what have we been up to? Plenty to report!... First of all…. Cast your mind back to the end of 2013. We planned not to be at the LOTS Sale at the RAF Museum in north London. Well, this was the reason why – we were attending a 60th birthday bash for Suzy’s mother at Piper Dam resort, Angus, Scotland (about three miles from Dundee city centre) on Saturday 30th November 2013. Photo taken by Tim (Suzy’s little brother) – there was a fair queue! – of Suzy (far left), Isobel (Suzy’s mother – middle) and Caroline (right). Aside from this, we had some good times around Scotland…. If a little truncated from a viral bug from Suzy’s little sister! Keep reading for a quick note about a further break this August. As 2013 drew to a close, Suzy handed back her sub-editorship at the PSV Circle, after a very enjoyable three years. Suzy was the first female sub-editor at the ‘Circle – an unexpected bonus none–the-less! While times were good and bad, she expressed a desire to continue to invest time in the business instead. So, we started 2014 on the basis we meant to carry on – getting out and about while doing three days a week. Come April 2014 and it’s working very well – Suzy has a new energy (or is it from the Spring?)! We now have two fully working computers, which will assist in the coming weeks and months – better news than before! We’ve also moved to a new webhosting company, which was also unusually quick. Maybe this is the beginning of things going well for a while!

Pay By Phone/Customer Services Phones We have been taking payments by phone for some time now. Having said that, from Wednesday, 7th May 2014, we started a whole new dawn of talking to our customers. We have a team at our shared call centre (PA Answer) in Ely – see Page 9 for more.

Page 3

Expanding our software and our range Hopefully to help us improve what we do, we’re investing in a shed load of software tools. We tried Adobe Creative Suite – more aptly Indesign, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop etc. which are the industry standards... The change might be gradual, rather than overnight – lots of names are different, and the tools will help to improve what we output in the coming months and years. We’ve also been able to take out the 2013 MS Office suite, after C signed up for a personal subscription which included multiple users. If you are wondering where the money has come from… yes, several thousands of software has proven too expensive in the past, but they now have a Creative Cloud scheme where you pay put £40ish (inc. vat) a month (SME rates!), to include ongoing support and all future updates, with the price locked at that for two years. It will also allow us to do more on the web – our current Website is designed using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 – new in 2003. As part of the suite, we get Adobe (who took over Macromedia in 2005!) DW version 13 & subsequent updates. Makes sense in my book – and hopefully you’ll see the difference in yours in the future!

Holiday We will be closed between Friday 1st August and Monday 18th August 2014. However, the call centre & telesales team will be open throughout (they will get the English bank holiday off on the 24th of August only, when they will be closed), although there will be a delay in fulfilling orders. The dates shown reflect these closures, and our other plans ad commitments for the rest of 2014.

Prepaid Account If you enjoy our books – and those that we sell for others – you might like to prepay for our titles. Page 24 illustrates a new discount scheme, for our titles, for new and existing Prepay customers alike. Once the form is filled in, simply top-up credit by phone, post or online.

The next books. Over the last two months, all bar one of our Sub-Editors have been working away very hard, creating the Indexes for the next series of books. More details further down in each block, but in summary, you will find a lot more on these, in the coming pages. Our sub-editors do a lot of work behind the scenes, and we hope to build and get a “rolling” programme going in the coming months. We’ve been identifying barriers to our time (see above) and we now feel confident!

Page 4

Postage Policy We are now experimenting with post-free prices – to reduce the overall cost. The post-free policy is paid from the slightly higher price. The margin also is used for trade discounts, who pay postage separately. This will reduce complications for 98% of our retail customers in the UK, and we trust this meets with your approval.

Updates After much soul searching, we’ve decided to drop the book Updates, after the one for the new Cambs book is issued in a few months. This is not a move we’ve taken lightly, but in the few years, they’ve metamorphosed into a large, hefty book, in some cases almost as big as the original! From what we’ve heard, our books are very good, but disrupting everything to start half-way through isn’t helping. Feedback shows keeping the book itself up-to-date would be better than doing updates. With that in mind, we’ll invest the time instead into doing new books, updating existing ones from scratch, and experimenting with new pricing points. We can start fresh, and be so much more responsive to major changes etc. We will attempt to advertise where we have leaflets available for certain operators and areas, which can be used as an Update, although in a slightly different format. We will do a list of corrections where any are noted too, which will be available on our website (or printed on request). This will only be corrections, not changes subsequently.

Bank – we now have a new bank account! Following several months of heartache with HSBC, we now have an account with Spectrum/CardOne – Sort Code 23-18-84, Account 87971258. All Invoice Customers have already been informed. This does mean the end of the 80p cheque surcharge that we had at HSBC (for less than £10) – as the new bank have phased fees like PayPal. Steven Knight Media plans. There are a number of new books from Steven Knight coming soon, including a Stagecoach Yorkshire, to add to the Stagecoach West and Norfolk Green books done since the last newsletter. Also is the third in the Midland Red Memory trilogy, which we’re now selling. Not got them all? Buy all three at a special rate! See the SKM information from Page 11, for all the details.

Page 5

We are now selling books by personal therapist and personal development trainer Jen Tiller, and we are working with her to allow her titles a wider audience, and at a much better price! See Page 14 for a brief example of what our good friend does. If not for you… they could be an ideal gift for someone else? These books do not reflect a change of our business policy, but the opportunity to help a friend, and try something new. ☺ She also runs the Healerzone.com membership site, providing networking, resources and support for people in the health and care professions – a worthy site to pass on if you know any.

“Keep The Change/Stick It In a Charity Box” Over our time, we occasionally get customers who we have to repay a few pennies to. As we’re a limited company, we can’t keep it, so we usually then get asked to add it to a charity box. So we looked into the latter, and we now have our own! Any change you ask us to “keep the change” or “donate to charity”, we will add to our charity box for Huntington’s Disease Association, and their Charity registration number (England & Wales) is 296453. This simplifies our accounting too, and any donations given will be passed onto them regularly. They also have a separate sister charity in Scotland, that did a lot of help for Suzy’s late father. Cambridgeshire This has been far too long in planning, and has now happened! Our first book back in August 2011 was A4, 700-odd pages, all mono, and a small index, for £25 (£22 plus £3 postage). This includes a very comprehensive index, maps of all areas, county maps, and route maps for every service we could get. A5, 696 pages b/w with colour pages and maps atlas-style – only £24.00 post-free, including an update half-way through. Proof indeed that a lot of ideas, feedback, time and field testing have sunk in over the last two and a half years! While the November one did not happen, here’s a book current from March 2014 – including changes up to and including that month. The book includes Cambridgeshire, plus the unitary authority of Peterborough. Also included in Royston, which was in Cambs in years gone by, and sits on the boundary of both. When you order, you will also receive the Update, which contains all new timetables and corrections up to and including Sunday 29th July 2014.

Page 6

Doe’s Directory The edition dated November 2013 never happened, but a December 2013 was printed. (34 wasn't printed as I managed to skip the 34 by mistake - so while this book is 35, there have only been 34 in the printed series! Sorry!) 88 pages of timetable lists covering the British Isles, and much more besides. Now completed, and on sale! Next edition will be correct to 1st July 2014 – DD35X – will be including an atlas-style edition of Barry Doe’s UK Rail Franchise Map, which is usually online only. December 2013 edition (35 but really 34!) is now reduced to £7.00. The new July 2014 edition (35X but really 35!) will be full colour throughout. To accommodate this, will be £12.00 post-free in the UK. Strathtay – The Story So Far Another one of Suzy’s “to do one day” list – we’re doing it now! A full 1985-2013 list of vehicles, with colour photos and much more! £30.00 for about 600 pages, A4 hardback. Well worth the wait, it is now expected late-July-to-mid-August 2014 If you’ve not already done so, this can be pre-ordered in the order form. The cover image has taken a few of you by surprise – and the location is at Auchavan Stables turning point, Glenisla, Angus – served on Wednesdays and by school buses. Beyond here, the road becomes a dirt track. Shortly before there were several cattle grids! It’s not a traditional service but after the demise of Glenisla Coaches, Smith & Sons ran the route as 122. Strathtay ran it until earlier this Summer, when the contract was lost to Shorts Taxi’s. Northumberland. There have been many changes in this area since our 2012 book, and 2013 update. We’ve seen fares go up and down, tickets change, as well as changes to the route numbers to many commercial services. At the same time, were deciding their Summer services. As a result of budget pressures the council have dropped two and cut back some other. So, fast forward to July 2014, and a new book is in preparation. The book will be valid from 23rd July 2014. It’s four pages more than last time (244 pages) but includes more colour, plus air and ferry services. There are now three sectors of Northumberland in coloured route maps, plus the overview map or principal bus routes, drawn for us by Northumberland Council. A bargain indeed at only £14.00, post-free within the UK.

Wiltshire Another new one – covering the whole of Wiltshire (as the council area is now) plus the borough of Swindon. Ash (who did the Index for Cambs, but is not a million miles away from the book coverage area!) has got this on at the moment. Interestingly, this is the first of our books in the Traveline South West area, but we have a handful more planned for medium-to-longer term.

Page 7

London – yes, our best selling series is back for Autumn 2014! The Getting Around London will be expanded dramatically, and there will be a By Day(the current one) and By Night (the new one) with Night Buses, last trains, and the like. The timetable books will include local Indexes, and principal LSP-series (commercial non-TfL contract services, or those for other LA’s) to expand the picture. Also, they will feature the colour TfL Bus Spider Maps for as many areas as we can squeeze in, in full colour. These will be renumbered – they were 040-044 now 740-744, with the night one being 749. There will also be a £1.00 per book donation to the Transport Benevolent Fund.

Tayside Another long-awaited title is all-in-one volume timetable, covering the current areas of Angus, Dundee City, and Perth & Kinross - the former Tayside region, and where we grew up! This Summer edition will be the first of our Scottish timetable titles. All going well, this will be the first of our books on 70gsm paper! This means the paper is just over 12% lighter than our standard weight (80gsm) for text paper. Another much-requested innovation from H2T! Fife – Another new one, for the Kingdom of Fife – shortly behind Tayside so comes at a good time! The guide includes just about anything and everything – including school buses which do not generally have printed timetable leaflets for. The guide will be up-to-the-minute with all of these, right up to changes in mid-August. For now, pre-order it and get it hot off the press! Further Scottish titles will follow around and after the time of the “tattie holidays” – Autumn half-term to the rest of you!

Surrey & East Berkshire – following a “false start” this is now due soon. The guide covers the six areas of Surrey, as covered by their own books. However, Surrey CC no longer are able to post them outwith the county, so they to their credit were happy for us to use their material. But we won’t just give you that… we include timetables and maps for Slough and Bracknell Forrest (West Berkshire) plus Heathrow Airport (London Borough of Hillingdon but was partly in Surrey!) and Gatwick Airport (Sussex, but was partly in Surrey!). This should be available in mid-July.

Page 8

Greater Essex – following feedback we are reissuing this book, but split into three separate volumes. We are expecting this around October/November 2014. 707 - West Essex – boroughs of Epping Forest, Uttlesford, Harlow inc. Stansted Airport, plus Sawbridgeworth & Bishop’s Stortford (Herts) and Chingford (London) 708 - South Essex – boroughs of Maldon, Basildon, Chelmsford, Brentwood, and UA’s of Thurrock and Southend-o-S 709 - North Essex– boroughs of Braintree, Colchester, and Tendring

Hertfordshire – these books (was a set of four). These books have also gone down well, but the train timetables went down to a mixed reception. So, we’ve decided to remove train times, and reduce the number of books from four to two. This will cut down on the size and cost for the whole set, and the county (including Luton borough and parts of Central Beds without a timetable of their own) in two. The overlap will be Welwyn Hatfield Council area – i.e. WGC, Hatfield, plus the rural area around Northaw and Cuffley. There will be a separate area “handy” guide for buses in Welwyn-Hatfield Borough and Potters Bar, as an experiment. (Yes, handbag size if you prefer!) We can also supply a bundle of train timetables, for those who aren’t local, for the cost of postage – we know at least two of the train operators in our area will not send out timetables by post. We are expecting these around October/November 2014. 718 - West Herts & Luton – Covers the Unitary Authority Of Luton plus Herts boroughs; Three Rivers, Watford, Dacorum, Welwyn Hatfield, Hertsmere, St Albans, and Luton UA Plus the area of Central Beds area of Dunstable, Caddington etc. 719 - East Hertfordshire - boroughs of North Herts, East Herts, Welwyn Hatfield, Broxbourne, and Stevenage. PLUS 717 Welwyn-Hatfield & Potters Bar – additional handy-size. Long Distance Services There will be a three-volume set of long distance service timetables starting with National Express. This will be a single volume of their services, Eurolines coach services, and more. The other two in the set will, eventually, include the rest of the long distance services across the UK – this is a work in progress for the Winter time, but keep watching! …At the same time… Passing Around Scotland A multi-modal guide to CalMac Ferries, ScotRail trains, and Citylink coaches. The title was inspired by the various Freedom tickets these operators do !

HERE TO THERE TELEPHONE SERVICE – NOW FIVE DAYS WITH MORE STAFF!!!

Last year, and following very popular demand, we introduced “pay by phone” as part of our business. We introduced this and it’s gone down well. So, we have decided to expand this service. Much as we’d like to have our own PA, or even a Sales Office of our own, we can’t – but we can now try a shared PA type service, which is affordable and highly recommended. With this in mind, I am delighted to announce that PA Answer will be taking on our call-answering on behalf of Here To There Publishing from Wednesday 7th May 2014. They come very highly recommended by several local businesses! We will have a small team of regular PA’s answering calls and helping customers, for longer hours, five days a week – and not for a lot of money at our side. The company is fairly locally based in Ely, Cambridgeshire – only 56 miles away from us here in WGC by road, or 52 by rail! Emma, Katie and the friendly team of smiling staff can take payments from you by Credit/Debit card, process your orders, answer any questions, or arrange for me to call you back at a convenient time. Your card details and data is as safe and secure with them, as it would be with me. They will answer all our calls within three rings, and with a smile! They will have about two or three named PA’s for us, who we hope you will get to know, as well as you know us two. The quality of service is much more superior than several of the call centre’s Suzy has worked in, but we will leave that for another day! So, if you’ve found the times too restricting, you don’t like leaving messages, or you just found Suzy’s speech a bit too fast (even before genetics make it worse), now you can discuss your orders, books, and place orders by phone – five days a week! If this service is well-used, we can expand further.

Call 01707 246232 (WGC), 01353 468396 (Ely), 01382 238903 (Dundee), 020

7993 8123 (London), or (00) 1-585 598 9297 (USA) – all point to the same line, so please use whichever number is cheapest. Service is open from 08.30 to

18.00 UK Time, except English bank holidays. Voicemail outwith these hours.

Page 10

Questions and Answers for phone services How is this different? Instead of the phone being answered by Suzy & Caroline three days a week, we will have an offsite team of PA’s based in Ely, Cambs. We will be in daily liaison with them, and they will be open for longer hours, five days a week – initially 08.30 to 18.00 as standard. What if I need to speak to Suzy/Caroline? No problem! They will help if they can, but they can also take details and pass them onto us. When the office is open (generally Mon/Wed/Fri between 09.30 and 17.30) we will do our very best to return your call within 2 hours, or around a time as requested by you. At other times, we will endeavour to call you back as soon as possible, generally within 24 hours unless possible. Will I be speaking with someone in this country? Yes – our new team are based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, only 56 miles away from us here in Welwyn Garden City by road, or 52 by rail! Cambridgeshire is the next county north from Hertfordshire (for those not local). We do try to invest locally, where we can i.e. accountant from Stevenage (Herts), some leaflet printing in WGC or Ware (Herts), etc. This is supporting another local small business, and thus means further investing locally in the area, as opposed to speaking to someone on the other side of the world to save a bob or two! What about Paying By Phone? This service will be handled by our new PA team, who will process your card details under the same privacy agreement as we have now. Our Customer Charter will be updated to reflect these developments. What about Account Customers? You can place your orders via our new ‘phone team, five days a week, for longer hours. If you need to speak to us personally, this can be arranged for you – just ask! Will this improve your services? We believe overall it will. The extra help, and another set of memories, will be able to provide a better service than now. What happens if I call outwith these hours? There is a new Voicemail service set up, and messages will be forwarded to us the next working day. I’m trying to deliver a package and can’t find the place/can’t get a parking spot/want to check you are in/need you to open the back door to the loading bay? See Contact Directory on the next page, for Suzy’s mobile number. When does this start? It started at 08.30 hours on Wednesday 7th May 2014 – Suzy will be on standby in case of any problems with services or questions in the short term, and aside from smoothing some initial niggles, all has gone well so far. Anything else we need to know? We think this information just about covers it – but feel free to drop a line, phone call them up, or email if you need any more details. Over time you will hopefully get to know them as well as you do us, as they have a small, friendly, hand-picked team. Treat them well, in the same manner you have done S&C since we started the business. We’d also love your feedback on the service.

Publishing News - 12th May 2014 It’s been a busy few weeks here at Steven Knight Media. The Second Edition of the Stagecoach Midlands book went to the printers last week and copies are due to arrive with us today. We have now started work on the new edition of the East Yorkshire Motor Services Fleet Handbook, which will be published in August. This book will contain the latest information on vehicles in the main EYMS and also Whittles fleets. Many changes have taken place with both fleets in the last year and more new buses are due for EYMS this summer. We are also planning at least two more additions to the Stagecoach series of Fleet Handbooks later this year. The Stagecoach FLF's continue to attract interest and we have produced a postcard with a view of the Open Top example. You can order these, and all SKM titles, using the Order Form starting on Page 21. STOP PRESS – A new edition of the Norfolk Green fleetbook is expected in September 2014. The East Yorkshire August 2014 edition can be preordered. One final title to be launched is Stagecoach North East – and all of these can be found in the Order Form section.

We now have available a postcard with a photo of the Open Top Bristol FLF bus which is operated by Stagecoach in Peterborough. Printed on 300gsm Trucard with a high gloss finish to the photo, these are sent out in a pack of four (all cards identical) for £1.50 plus £1.00 postage/packing. Will be sent in an envelope to allow use for collecting or as a traditional “wish you were here” postcard.

One of the more popular fleets in the Fleet Handbook series is Stagecoach Midlands. Since our first edition last year the fleet has received significant investment in new vehicles, most recently 37 ADL E20D/Enviro 200s for the Northampton operation. This has resulted in many older Dennis Darts being withdrawn and sold. New vehicles have also joined the Megabus fleet. We have received many requests to bring out this new edition, which should be available from late May 2014. This 40 page book covers the Stagecoach Midlands fleet, which operates across Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. All vehicles are listed with ample illustrations. The planned allocation of vehicle types to routes, together with information on branding and liveries is also detailed. An eight page Supplement gives complete vehicle allocation details. BRAND NEW 12th MAY 2014 - only £6.75 + £1 postage Following the success of other Fleetbooks, Steve has received many requests for a Fleet Handbook covering the Stagecoach Yorkshire fleet and here it is! The book covers Stagecoach operations around Sheffield, Chesterfield, Dearne Valley and Barnsley. The 32 page book has full details of the fleet including liveries and branding details as well as the weekday allocation of vehicle types to routes. Details of vehicle allocations to garages are also provided as an 8 page insert. Illustrated in colour throughout. The book has been produced with the support of Stagecoach Yorkshire management and all details have been confirmed against the official records maintained by the company. New in late February 2014.

On December 18th 2013 Stagecoach announced that it had bought Norfolk Green. In record time Steve has produced a special Fleet Handbook detailing the fleet - including Stagecoach fleet numbers, liveries and vehicle names. A section allows readers to cross reference the new Stagecoach numbers with the original Norfolk Green numbers. The 16-page book is illustrated in full colour with images provided by Damon Powell.

Steve’s first new Fleet Handbook of 2014 covered the Stagecoach West fleet, which provides operations in Swindon, Cheltenham, Gloucester and the Stroud Valley. The 32 page book has full details of the fleet including liveries and branding details as well as the weekday allocation of vehicle types to routes. Details of vehicle allocations to garages are also provided as an 8 page insert. Illustrated in colour throughout. The book has been produced with the support of Stagecoach West and also local enthusiasts Dave Russell and Deric Pemberton who have checked the information and provided most of the illustrations.

Frequently Asked Questions on Here To There How did you get started? Suzy has always had an interest in public transport, from using it to get everywhere in Dundee (her parents didn’t drive). Cut a long story short, and after doing some timetables, scheduling and marketing work for Tiger Line Buses, I started looking for new things. A regular over on the Anglia & Thames Valley Bus Forum had been complaining about the loss of the UK-wide long distance coach services guide, so Suzy mocked one up over a bank holiday in 2011, to much acclaim. Thus, the next holiday, the company was formed, and we have changed much since then! I think I recognise you… didn’t you used to come in and fill up a carrier bag/ write to us with errors you found in our timetables? Yes – very probably – and hopefully you found it useful. If not, then feel free to buy one of ours, and let the vengeance begin ☺ But seriously, it helps me as much as you. Do you publish fiction? No. We publish bus timetables… (Insert a punchline of your choice here!) Can you publish a timetable for our area? If the local authority does not, and you are within England, Scotland or Wales, there is a good chance we will get round to you in due course. If you know of any LA’s intending to drop publicity soon, then please do let us know, so we can investigate our options. How is it possible to publish a timetable, when services change all the time? In most parts of the UK, the information has to be submitted to the Traffic Commissioner’s office with eight weeks notice. A summary of all this is shown online daily, and published fortnightly, which does help immensely. We have a certain inbuilt quality mechanism, whereby we will not knowingly add an old or incorrect timetable to one of our books. I’ve noticed errors on website timetables – is this something you know of? We don’t knowingly put a timetable in a book that is wrong, or has an error – we normally try and edit it, or recreate another. If you’ve spotted one we did not, then let me know. How environmentally-friendly are your books? Each book is printed on-demand, meaning we have no boxes of books going to be pulped or remaindered every time something changes. Our books are printed using paper from responsible sources, generally FSC-certified interior paper, or PEFC– certified laminated board on the exteriors (80gsm interior, 300gsm exterior). Isn’t it more environmentally-friendly and economical, to print only the routes you need from the Internet? If you print a four-page timetable as four separate sheets of A4, you use four times the paper of an A5 leaflet (printed) – say nothing of all the bad copies and pages that don’t print, paper jams, that kind of thing… and some libraries charge 10p-15p a page for this. If you print four 20 page timetables for the same area, you might just be financially better off with one of our books too – our new Northumberland book is £14 to your door, and 60 pages printed in a library charging 20p/page is £16 – you also have to get there and back, plus pay for any further routes you want later! Truly, food for thought.

News July 2014 Here To There Publishing Ltd have teamed up a good friend Jen Tiller from Letchworth, Hertfordshire. We are now printing her books in a split venture. This means Jen can benefit from the economies of scale and get books for much less than now, where she is selling them at cost price and hiding the price tag! Now she can sell them at a much more attractive price! So, we now sell her books, in the series 041+. There are no changes to the books themselves, aside from some very minor formatting changes to reflect the new source requirements, and making some minor tidy-ups. If you want any of Jen’s books in an e-book format, these are currently available via her website www.jentiller.com . These will soon be available from us too, in due course. In addition to these, you can try the books at many company events, stalls, and networking events – ask for details. In the meantime, more on Jen is available from her website www.jentiller.com

Affirmations are intended to shift the way you think. But repeating "I AM happy" (stated as a fact occurring in the present tense) when you're sad or depressed, can be like beating your head

against reality, because in that moment you're saying something you believe to be untrue! That feeling of conflict keeps you separate from what you seek.

All About Here To There Publishing Ltd We produce a wide range of public transport timetable books, covering areas of the UK where you cannot obtain comprehensive printed information from a local authority. We print on demand, so there are no massive boxes of unwanted books to be pulped. We are passionate about what we do, and always look to improve our range, and our options to our customers. All our books (except SKM) are print-on-demand, and books are printed individually to order. These are passed to our printer who take 3-5 days for small orders, 5-7 days for larger, to print, pack and bind, before shipping out. We also sell Steven Knight Media Photography range of bus albums and fleetbooks, which are despatched direct by Steve himself. We are now also branching out to another good friend at Reality Quest over the coming months. We do get them processed internally, and the Indexes are done by a happy band of freelancers. This, together with outsourcing a few other tasks such as fulfilment of catalogues, mean we can do more. Our books are priced to break even on selling just a few, meaning we can do a lot more titles that might be unviable. We try to get the information out – as opposed to making a massive amount on this work. This has kept the business sustainable, while some of our competitors in years gone by may have literally sent themselves to the wall. This gives Suzy something to do in the coming years, that she is enjoying and proud of her work. We are lucky that our living costs are covered by Caroline (Suzy’s business and life partner)’s salary. We sell online, by post, and through our website, and through such shops as Ian Allan (Waterloo, London) and the London Transport Museum Gift Shop (Covent Garden, London), with some of the Midlands stuff also available from Tenants Trains (Halesowen, West Midlands) Hunts Bookshop (Rugby), and Severn Valley Railway Gift Shop (Bridgenorth, Staffs). Trade discounts for orders of 6+ for our regulars are available. We have a Prepaid Account service, for those who wish to get each book as soon as it is out, or pay up front. Our customer market is typically those who have an interest in the subject, libraries, travellers etc. who often don’t have access to all the online only resources. We also use some of our income from these to operate bus enthusiast groups Anglia & Thames Valley Bus Forum www.angliaandthamesvalleybusforum.com and Dundee Area Bus Forum www.dundeeareabusforum.com, plus the independent information site www.dundeebuses.info . We also do work on behalf of BABUS – the Bedford Area Bus Users Society. Suzy is a committee member, but the Newsletters and Webhosting are done via H2T.

I can also do this by telephone if you prefer. Steven Knight books are now fulfilled by the man himself. He keeps stock and will post to you as soon as possible. Newsletter – we keep you on our free mailing list. We will send you a copy by email, if we have an address for you. If you would prefer a paper copy to be sent by post, please ask. We are happy to arrange for Newsletters to be sent in most other formats (such as extra large print, coloured paper, or more accessible formats), where we can do so. We will honour all unsubscribe requests by post or email, and we will also look at automating this process for emails shortly. Access – Suzy is Typetalk trained, and would welcome calls via this method. We can also contact you via Typetalk on request, when we call you back. See www.typetalk.org if you need further information. Where we have failed - We will undertake an investigation into the facts and circumstances. We may need more information from you, and we’ll contact you back if that is the case. I will attempt to learn from any errors or mistakes, within the framework we

work to, and in. Where we have done something wrong, I will explain what, why and what we will change, or do differently another time. An apology will take account of any shortages or inconvenience caused by our actions, or our lack thereof. Timetable data – while we do everything we can to make sure the timetables are up to date at the time of sending off to print, we are working in a playing field where things can change very quickly. We do get warning of most changes, but sometimes things happen, operator cease or change hands, or we get incorrect information. Sometimes one of the relevant stakeholders, like a local authority or a consultant, will input the wrong data. Let us know where you see something wrong, and we will ensure that this is corrected for next time, and fed back accordingly. While bus & train operators do everything they can to operate services as advertised & scheduled, circumstances beyond their control mean that they may not always succeed. No liability can be accepted for the use of our data, E&OE. 3. Delivery, Cancellation & DamagedGoods Policy We generally process most orders at least once a week. This is then split into Print On Demand i.e. most of our books, or Stocked By Steven Knight range. Bulk orders, and books customised, are generally non-returnable, although your Quotation will make this clear. Bulk Orders will incur cancellation charges where work has started for a customised edition. Orders for most of our titles are fulfilled by our printing partners. (Except Steven Knight titles). They print every order individually, and these are quality checked. They then pack and post direct to you, either via a chosen courier. or Royal Mail. Once the book gets to you, we have delivered the order that you requested. If a book order has been put through, the book is still printed, and we can then incur charges for your order. In the case of Steve Knight titles, he will pack and post book titles directly to you. Each book is quality checked by the printer, and Steve

does check the books for any obvious signs of defect. If there is damage to your copy – either from printer error or postal/courier damage – please let us know within three calendar days. This can be done by email, post, or by telephone. We will then investigate the matter, make our claims as needed, and replace your order accordingly. If your order has been duplicated - please let us know within three days. This can be done by email, post, or by telephone. We will then investigate the matter, and advise you what to do next. Please don’t do anything with the order in the meantime, but you will not be out of pocket where we, our printer, the postal service, or courier services, are at fault. If your order has arrived fine, with no damage or other problems, but you still wish to cancel, a handling fee will apply – typically 10% of the retail price of the book order (not including postage/packing or any agreed discounts), with a minimum cost of £5.00. You will also be liable for the cost of returning the goods to us, or to another location as decided by us. These will need to be insured and signed for. 4. Postage PolicyEach item is now separately advised – many of our books are post-free, with those for others at a fixed postage rate. 5. Privacy PolicyAs the majority of web transactions are done by PayPal, we do not store Credit Card or Debit Card details on our computer systems. Postal orders are fulfilled here. If you pay by cheque or postal order, a note is made of the cheque number, date and amount of the cheque, for standard accounting, and as a back-up in case of

loss. If you pay by Card, your details will be destroyed securely after processing. Telephone orders are now fulfilled by PA Answer Ltd of Ely, who will process on our behalf. Your details will be secure again, and destroyed securely after processing. We do not sell your details – financial or otherwise – to any groups for marketing. You may here from us from time to time about forthcoming titles, but you are free to unsubscribe at any time. We will confirm this by replying on the same method you used i.e. email, letter. For Printed On Demand books, we supply your name, address and book titles to our printer. They then supply your name and address to the Royal Mail or a courier, to fulfil your order. Otherwise, we do NOT share your personal or payment details with anyone. You are our customer – not anyone else’s! 6. Legal StuffWhile the transport operators featured in our publications do everything they can to provide services as scheduled (both here and in other publications), circumstances beyond our control mean that they may not always succeed. Errors & Omissions Excepted – if you see any, let us know via any methods in the Contact Directory on the back page of our current Catalogue. Please do not send items or orders to our accountants in Stevenage, as we have to go get the items.
